SO WHAT ELSE IS NEW?

Just how many wooden indains can you sell? This whole business must be generated by the grading companines. To put a slot in the collections for a coin that is no different than another one has only one purpose and that is to generate revenue. This is really becoming a sorry organization. I would certainly hope that management would do something to up their moral standards. gtg

But, it is to a large extent driven by collector demand. Many of us hear that the SF Mint is minting ASEs without a mintmark and we naturally want to have one. The grading services are only responding to consumer demand.

Someone could probably due an in-depth analysis of the coins and find some die variation that will be attributeable to a specific mint. This would be kind of like what they've done with the 1861-O Half Dollar with some dies attributed to the U.S.A, some to the Louisiana, and some to the Confederacy.

If they can find a significant (discernible with the naked eye) difference between the "S" ASE and the regular ASE, then I contend that it can have its own spot. As of now, it's just a piece of plastic. Only time will tell...
