1830 Half Dollar. Grade? Large Letter Variety?

7 posts in this topic

I have an 1830 Half Dollar, and I was wondering not only about what grade you guys might think it might get at NGC, but perhaps you can tell me whether or not this is the large letter variety. I heard something about that it has something to do with the "E"'s on the reverse.

From the pics it looks like O-110 (one of the small 0 die marriages). It is not the large letter reverse, though. On the LLR UNITED and STATES are run together to appear to be one word.

By those pics, I do not see any problems. I would guess AU 50 or maybe 53.

I just got this coin in the mail today! It looks soooo much better in-hand. Lots of luster, and it has a nice rose-like tone to it when the light hits it! I'll post a pic later tonight!
