The Federal Reserve is not a “private bank” .

It is the country’s Central bank which is a public institution.

It is a federal system, composed of a central, governmental agency the Board of Governors & twelve regional Federal Reserve Banks.

So, in a post-apocalyptic 2020s Mid-West, where water supplies are scant, we can anticipate the scruffy looking guy at the gas pump / charging station to pull out scales, while I hand over a pair of 1880s Morgans to charge my aging Tesla Model S with enough power to get me to Arkansas? He exhales and grunts at my "smug green attitude," until I point out that I'm driving an American car, and I'm buying power from the wind blowing across the Texas Panhandle.
