My PCGS Swiss coin says Sample??????????? help....

9 posts in this topic

Hi

I just bought a silver Swiss 1967-B 1/2 Frank.

It is from PCGS, but the coins verify cert number is 12345678.

And ii says Sample (see picture) The coin has great luster and is very sharp.

Has anyone ever seen the word Sample with this kind of Cert number on a PCGS

coin before.

Thanks

Alan

If you scroll though the coins on the Cameron Kiefer site he actually showed your coin and stated that there were very few of them about. You may have found a real winner there!!

Thank you so much.

I did find the coin and the numbers on the left side are the same as mine.

I wounder if all the sample coins had this number or were they all different.

It would be very cool if I had the same coin from the Cameron Kiefer site.

Thanks again for all the help.

Alan

A serial number of 12345678 is very commonly used on sample slabs. If you will look at the other sample slabs on Cameron's site you will see it frequently.

Yes the right side of the coin is very often 12345678.

But the left side of the coin is the number I am wondering about.

The left side number is their in-house number for a 1967-B Swiss half franc. (At least that is what the left hand number typically is, whatever their in-house number is for the coin in the holder.)
