GSA CC Dollars

Can someone please explain why some of these come in cases that say Silver Dollar, while others say Uncirculated Silver Dollar? Were they marketed differently or released at different times? The ones I've seen in "Silver Dollar" cases look BU to me.

Thanks.

The ones in the non-Uncirculated cases were either toned or marked in some other way so that mint employees thought they weren't new. Many thought that the toned ones were not as nice as the white ones, so the white were the only ones put into Uncirculated cases

Yep. And sometimes there are good deals to be found in the ones not marked uncirculated. Although I imagine that's significantly less likely these days than in the past.
