Spare a grade for an 1890-O DMPL

90-o dmpl's are rare and tricky

 

Those with heritage accounts check out the face chatter allowed for a 64 with an ok strike via links below or search... Starting to think this one could be better than I thought - Bring me back home if I'm off...

The coin is probably a P-L, but the base grade is only MS-63. There are a number of small marks on the face and elsewhere.

Because of it being a "O" mint

My gut was 62, but maybe a 63PL

In the image below, the TOP 2 are in 64 DPL holders (NGC or PCGS) and the Bottom two are both of the same coin, which is actually in a NGC 65 DPL.

You can see the tremdous frost on DMPL coins in the second pictures and agree with the designation ... I have a litle problem with the technical grades though but thats me

ON second look on the initial coin .. It may get bumped for too much rim damage

Thanks! I'm in the same camp with the technical grade. But if it works in my favor, I won't complain. There is scattered rim chatter on the reverse of this one, but nothing significant, obscured by tone, and none have any depth at all... annnd it IS the reverse after all:)...

 

Second opinion on Frost? (Reflectivity is there, could watch tv in it - I just can't seem to generate as much insanely even light from the sides as heritage does on their pics)

It isn't cameoed enough to warrant a DMPL, but certainly PL is possible...I really prefer to see them in hand.

Solid MS64. Strong reflective fields as shown by your pics. I don't see strong cameo effect needed for DPML. MS64-65PL.

I'm thinking MS63 on this one. There are too many ticks in the obverse field; however, this could because the PL services are reflecting the ticks as well. It is especially difficult to grade PL or DMPL coins by image.
