Thanks. What is unusual is that most of these have striations (look like file marks) on them as produced, this one does not have them.

i didnot notice that but now that you mention it

you're absolutely correct!!

worth a premium

i grade this coin better than ms-61 in terms of coloration and smooth surfaces and hence really good eye appeal

i have never seen an unc. coin

combined with the no striations

i am wondering if it is some sort of presentation strike??

is the coin slightly prooflike?

this might be one of the "cents" that james kean of philly put aside for himself hm

or possibly a later restrike from the 1860's hm as these "cents" were struck (me thinks) in the later1840's early 1850's era by the soho mint in birmington

quite an inegmatic greatly historical and interesting "cent"

i will need to do more research on this "cent"

Note, it has the slightly rotated reverse that all of these I have seen also have.

I am not an expert in this particular field, and appreciate any info you can provide.

Thanks.

in all seriousness

that rear end on 2x riders icon

that xxlarge, tight, superb rear cabouse will ALWAYS trump ANY early copper

but early copper is a very close second

It is funny how these things go, It turns out that Hoot sold this very coin to a dealer at a show in Kansas City about 3 months before I bought it at a local B&M shop. lol

Here is the only copper I own. Holdered by NGC as MS63. Acquired it several years ago and since have learned from others much smarter than me that it is AT. Pretty coin though. But definitely buried. :tonofbricks:
