Can some one explain the slab serial #'s

4 posts in this topic

I own only one slabed coin pictured here. I do plan to get all errors listed in the presidential dollar series, and have them graded if they already haven't been. And to slab the entire set. With hopefully all pf 70, or ms 65+. But I don't know how to read the #'s. Can you tell me how to find the number of grades for an individal coin, and is it in the serial number?

From what I understand, on an NGC slab, the part of the "serial number" to the left of the "dash" is the invoice number and the number to the right of the dash is the coin's listing on the invoice (that it, this coin is the ninth listed on the invoice).
