Is there anyway to help a coin that has been erasered? I realize that as far as its lustre and value, it is ruined. But as long as one has one, can anything be done to improve its looks?

My guess is that since it is mechanical damage, not so unlike whizzing, the answer is no. A drastic course of action, like wearing it down as a pocket piece, might be the best shot.
