Cleaning copper coins

2 posts in this topic

I saw where "Blue Ribbon" was recommended for cleaning copper coins of verdigris and other contaminants. Just out of curiosity, has anyone ever tried electrolysis cleaners or ultra sound cleaners(such as for teeth and jewelry)? I have often wondered whether this would work or not, can't see it hurting the coin. Just curious.

i have used the older ultrasonic cleaner and it has a metal bin so it will transfer. also when you leave it in cleaner for longer than say 10 minutes it starts to get hot. i have goten most of color from the older one.
