I need to Insurance value this set to protect myself in transit ...

If you still have the records, calculate what it cost you to buy the coins. Since you'll have to prove/support any kind of value you put on a claim that seems like the most practical course to take.

I paid 18 dollars for the 1967 SMS set and it has a one of only one coin graded

so that doesn't work - It would have to replacement value ..

It doesn't matter what you insure it for. If the shipment is lost then you will have to provide receipts to the post office and justify why and how much they should reimburse you.

Sweet set, btw, Michael! Dang it, son! :cloud9:

Now if it were a 1965 set then I would have to fight you for it! ;)

I am thinking at least $2000! That sounds like one awesome grouping of coins. Needless to say, "registered" is a must.

Good Point ...

This set is a lot tougher to figure out than the 5 gold 1984 Olympics I sent it because there is a history of sales and valuation which brought it to $3k

When I added up values of the coins where I though you might have to replace the coins if lost, I came up with a value of 2900. The big ticket of course the dime in 69 cam which I figured at 1500. I believe that if you have the coins valued as such by a third party, wouldn't they have to pay that if you insured it as such? I mean, just because you bought a coin for 18 bux and turned it into a thousand dollar coin and then sent it to another party, it gets lost, do you only get 18 casholas back? Me thinks not... but I'd definitely send it registered, that's the only way to go. So, I say value it at 3k and get someone here to value the set as such, that is if anyone is willing to do that for you. I believe that's what insurance companies do and I think they'd have to do the same... but it's worth a phone call if you are even a bit concerned.

Just a Additon to this post -

I have Insured this package for $7500 because it will not only contain the SMS set which is tought to ascertain a value.

Plus my 1950 and 1951 Proof Sets going into Multi Holders.

Upgrades to my 1957 Set

And a set of Multi Holder Coin sets that I have not shown on the boards yet.

( Dont hold yer breath - its not outlandish - Just different )

They are at NGC now and should have them back in a week to show some pictures of the grouping.
