NEWPS-1839 Bust HALF DOLLAR circulated

18 posts in this topic

The only flaw that I can spot is the rim ding on the obverse at 8:00.

What do you think, guys, about the grade, eye-appeal and if PCGS will grade it.

Thanks for you comments!! :cloud9:

I like it, as long as it is not green in hand. It looks VF20 to me.

I just received a great 1838 from James yesterday. :) Though it is not a circulated cameo like yours. :cloud9:

What concerns me though is that there may be some scratching in the field below liberty's chin and above the eagle's head. It is tough to tell from the picture. (shrug)

I can't tell from the pictures - I hope it doesn't have that green hue in hand. I too am concerned about the area over the eagle's head. You'll have to let us know how it turns out.

circulated cameo

That's the first time that I've heard that term. I like it. Cool!

It has the potential to be a very nice coin.

Thanks, Tom, I agree. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Tom, you don't think the rim ding is a big deal? It's not too obvious.

The way the image is cropped makes it difficult to determine much about any rim damage, so I am ignoring that for the time being.

I think it looks like a fun coin, but I would hate to guess a grade from those pics. should look nice in an album.

Here's a better view of the ding, Tom.

Looks nice but are there scratches in the fields? I can't tell but I like the coin (thumbs u

I hope not! We'll see. It was described as problem free.

From the way it looks in the pictures, I don't think you'd have a problem, regarding the rim ding. It's small, and it's an old coin. I've had worse holdered by PCGS.

As far as the surfaces, I can't say, since I can't tell much from the pictures.
