1891 CC Morgan with a ?? Variety/Pedigree on my NGC invoice

3 posts in this topic

As you can tell from my posts, I am a green rook, but pretty stoked about collecting coins and paper. I have focused mostly on US Mint products and old paper, but I decided to expand to some gold and morgans, mostly Carson City.

I recently bought some lots of 10 morgans in an internet live auction. Good part of each lot had Carson Citys.

Well, I sent some of the better ones to NGC. While I was cruising the forum, I decided to check on the status of my invoice.

One of the Carsons, an 1891 has under the "mintmark" column of the invoice the phrase "Top-100" and under the "variety/pedigree" column it has the phrase "VAM-3 Spitting Eagle"

It has been scheduled for grading, but has not been graded yet.

What do those terms mean? Should I be happy?
