INFLATION really is a dirty word!

I agree with you mrearlygold (cool name, btw. Makes one envious. ;))

But since JP Morgan bought up the major media outlets in the early 1900's under the direction of Woodrow Wilson and Col. Edward Mandel House, the elections have basically been rigged every since. Only candidates who are well supported with monetary backing have any chance at all in getting elected, Third Party Candidates are just spoilers, drawing votes from the incumbent and usually ensuring that the underdog gets elected. So, one of two candidates will get elected and both are in the back pocket of the power brokers. So damned if we do and damned if we don't.

EZ_E , Monitary backing doesn't alone equal getting elected. If that were the case then Ron Paul would be in first place ( where he should be, if the country were concerned with little "issues" such as freedom )

I didn't know about the JP morgan deal, thank you. The media blackout of Dr Paul has set new precedents on how corrupt the US has become and how socialism ( war and welfare ) has in fact become the defacto policy in America.

Good idea to be involved in tangible assetts. ^^

Ron Paul has good points but has about as much chance as I have of getting elected and I am not even running.

The Middle class has all but been destroyed. I told my Brother some years ago that Hiilary Clinton would be a Candidate for President and he said I was Nuts.

I told him after Bernake had raised the Federal Funds rate 10 times of its Historical significance and gain I was Nuts.

He now believes me to a large extent. A few months ago he sent me an article where a Survey had been conducted and 69% of those in the Survey did not know that Oil was used to manufacture Plastics and other things. If you haven't checked then the next time that you get Gas check and see what the Government taxes are on a gallon of gas. The National Average is $.48. Are you below it or above it. According to the Media and the Politicians the cost is 100% the Oil companies. People have forgotten the Oil recession in Houston Texas many years ago and the Jobs etc that were lost.

People have forgotten the Surplus Profit Taxes Congress put on the Oil Companies. The Recent suggestions aren't the first time. The Oil Companies just stopped Exploring for Oil. The amount in Taxes they paid to the Government was balanced out by the amount they did not spend for Exploring for Oil.Those Subsidies to the Oil Companies that everybody is complaining about are mostly Subsidies that were granted to the Oil Companies to get them to kick up their exploring for Oil again.

If the Supply of Oil was tripled there is not enoough Refinery Capacity to Process it especially since different States have Different Environmental Regs and thus different blends. They have to go down for Maintenance and I suspect that the Companies use this in order to control the supply of Processed Oil but until Congress allows them to Build more Refineries then this is the status quo.

As another poster has stated " A gallon of Gas is $9.55 in Italy etc".

We have to Import at least 60 % of our Oil. Congress has not only made it virtually impossible for other forms of Energy but made it restrictive as to the existing forms.

I read last year where 100 Million dollars was spent to Elect the Governor of New Jersey.. It is impossible for anybody to run for even State Wide Office etc unless they have access to unlimited Funds.

Then there is Food and all its restrictive Treaties etc and the Costs incurred there.

The Money Supply and its Regulatory aspects affect the Dollar which has to compete in an ever increasing Global Economy etc on just that basis of it.

Yes the Future is blea k but the better one is aware of it then the better one can prepare.

347 A.D. Oil wells are drilled in China up to 800 feet deep using bits attached to bamboo poles

In the USA 1815 Oil is produced in United States as an undesirable by-product from brine wells in Pennsylvania.

First modern oil well- 1848 First modern oil well is drilled in Asia, on the Aspheron Peninsula north-east of Baku, by Russian engineer F.N. Semyenov.

1859 First oil well in United States is drilled 69 feet deep at Titusville, Pennsylvania by Colonel Edwin Drake.

Though not a California well, the Spindletop gusher, which blew out on January 10, 1901 near Beaumont in East Texas, had a great impact on the California oil industry. Spindletop was not the first nor the biggest gusher - the Adams Canyon, Shamrock and Blue Goose gushers of California were earlier and the Lakeview gusher was bigger. However, Spindletop was certainly one of the great gushers of all time, and, most important, it heralded the birth of the Texas oil industry

I think

Oil will keep buying it on the open markets as long as we can for what ever the price. Were buying it with dollars that are going down in value. Which makes our foreign investors in our treasury notes and other instrument worth less they all will be spooned in the end they don't know the game

Didn't know that about China. Thanks . You are correct. I had forgot about Drake.

Just shows how the US has gone down from a Producer to a Buyer from a once lofty position.

I read where Russia has more Oil Reserves than Saudi Arabia. Just aren't as developed.

Russia is also the 2nd or 3rd largest in Gold Reserves

Freedom works best. Non freedom works the worst. This country is less free now than it's ever been and with the media picking the new leader/president and the people whining and begging for more wars and more welfare, the direction of the country is headed into an even less free future.
