Recently read news regarding a gold coin minted by The Royal Canadian Mint, the gold coin of which was registered as the world's biggest gold coin in the Guinness Book of Records. The rest of the story you can read here: dig4coins.com

What is your opinion on this subject? Can you share your own recently found news about coins, medals or something else? Have you got any ancient coins in your own collection?

About the coin, maybe, the fact that it is now actually listed in Guiness may be new. The fact that it is just a marketing gimmik and not a true circulation coin renders it as being only mildly interesting.

Some of the most expensive coins are gimmicks or other subversions, e.g. 1804 dollar, 1913 V nickel, etc. This coin is also a gimmick but people seem to like some gimmicks.
