Is there an album product that holds mint-issued capsules?

12 posts in this topic

I'd like to stick my silver eagle proofs in an album in their original mint capsules. I suppose I could just remove them to AirTites, but I would prefer to put them in an album without swapping out their holders. Is there any sort of storage solution like that?

Yes Eagle coin holders at eaglecoinholders.com makes albums for mint encapsulated coins. I know they make one for the modern commems. See description

" Modern Commemorative Dollar Album #1 1983 - 2004-P

[ECA002] $30.50

Now you can keep your modern (1983-2004 Thomas Edison proof) mint encapsulated commemorative dollar coins in an attractive albums without removing them from the capsules! The capsules fit neatly in the 20 pocket pages as is. Enjoy looking at your coins side by side instead of keeping them hidden in the multi-layered boxes supplied by the mint! The five page album holds 100 coins, from the 1983-P Olympic to the 2004-P Thomas Edison proof dollar"

Call them up and sometimes they will make it to order. I Happen to have the Commem album and just slid a proof silver eagle in mint capsule in and it fit fine. They will make it with the paper index and the number of pages you need.

I used these pages about 7 years for my casino chips and gaming tokens that are in AirTites. The only drawback to them is that the plastic strip that holds them in position often breaks or cracks and that slot becomes unusable. If you don't care about "ugly", you might want to consider doing what I did. I am now using the NGC shipping boxes for my casino chips.

I buy just the pages and find a really cool binder on my own.

I agree with Chris, the plastic strip is a problem.

If you use these it's a good idea to have a few extra.

I have about 20 of their albums which I use for my certified coins and proof and mint sets. I have never had a problem. To each his own.

I was constantly moving individual coins, proof sets and casino chips in and out of the compartments for close examination, upgrades and photography. I guess they would be okay otherwise, but they just don't seem to be able to withstand continued use.

I usually use them for the certified slabs which don't change unless I upgrade. I can see where that strip could be a problem, but find the albums a good way to view my collections. I don't really like keeping my slabs in NGC boxes with no way to view multiple coins at once. No problem here guys. :)

Where do you get just the eagle pages, and what size binder do they fit in?

Do you have to buy them like airtite pages at different sizes. That's pretty annoying to me.

They fit in any standard 3-ring binder. I don't recommend that you use any binder larger than 2-3" width. If you use anything larger, the pages have a tendency to crack along the edges and at the holes punched for the rings. I found that zippered binders work the best because the pages can't sag against the rings or drag along the bottom.

You can buy the pages separately also at places like www.brent-krueger.com or www.jakesmp.com. I usually buy my supplies from brent-krueger.

Chris,

I agree with you on the size of the binder. The 3in. holds 5 pages i believe. I buy their binders because i keep them on a bookshelf for display and they loook pretty nice. The 5 page binder has sturdy rectangular rings.
