Should i tell the seller this shield nickel is not what he has listed it as

Hi all

i have been waching this coin on ebay and the price has shot up to $200 +

 

He is selling the coin as a 1882/3 but as far as i can see its NOT !

 

what do you all think should i contact him or have i got it wrong ??

I've lost count of the number of filled 2s that are offered as 83/2s on eBay. Yes, you should let him know. Remember that it's a common mistake and not necessarily intentionally misleading.

It may be my eyes BUT the distance shot looks like a filled '2'

The close up looks 'touched up' to make it look like the right lower portion of the '2' is rounded to make it appear like a bottom of the three. The colouring does not look right there either.

 

I think this is a purposely deceptive auction

The photo looks normal to me. Just your typical clueless vendor of an 1882 filled 2.

 

If the seller does not respond by correcting his auction, report him to eBay. I do it all the time, and sometimes get coins removed.
