    The 2000 $1 with 10c obverse MULE
    A classic decimal rarity in high demand.
    Just before this coin was to appear in the single bible of Australian coins "Greg McDonald's Pocket guide to Australian coins and Banknotes" I decided to buy a couple of high grade mules
    I got this one.. now sold it at great profit
    Lesson for the day. PUBLIC awareness of an investment coin will push the price up far quicker than anything else.
    I bought this coin for a reason, and it paid off
    I have another.. which has a lovely center strike giving FULL double rim, in my signature set $1 oddities. It will be replacing the coin I sold :

    The buyer should be very happy with the original mint luster, decent strike and good surface condition of this coin. It is hard to argue with the MS grade but I advertised it as probably realistically AU58, It has toned and doesn't LOOK like an UNC $1 Australian coin - which are very bright and gold yellow ish.
    The material is Aluminium/Bronze
     
    My only remaining mule is now in the set. Scans only available sorry. See below for the presentation which always gets a positive comment when people see it.

    The Gilded Kookaburra, extremely nice coin ! the spider web is fantastic on this coin.. have not seen the plain silver one apart from the image posted by another member.

    Should I slab ! I feel I must..
    I'm thinking I'll send my beautiful 150th Running of the Melbourne Cup gold plated 50c sets in for grading. 12 coins total yes 6 full sets. These are hot, 5000 mintage and I expect them to go up plenty more yet.
    Why not, I mean how gorgeous are they !! see below. They are PROOFS with an obverse the same as the proof set, Queen Elizabeth II
    So here's the plan.. send all 12 coins and ask for PF70 matched sets only. So if 5 of one coin grade 70 but only 4 of the other, I get back 2 sets in capsules, and 4 sets of PF70 (dreaming here that would be sensational, but the Royal Australian Mint do make top quality coins so its possible)
    These gold plated babies are easily the best looking coin from Australia for ages. One portrays our great Champion of 1930 Phar Lap, the other the Melbourne Cup itself

    The other could even be a mistake. Someone has one in his Gilt Kooka set and he says its not gilt its a plain Kooka !! So is the 2nd coin really out there ?? did I just get a pop 1 of 85 !?

    Two 1911P half sovs ! one is probably XF40. The other should be AU something and will be going in my set. The other will have to be sold via the boards and or eBay
    The 1897 S should cross to AU50. Hopefully even higher but no extra points with the system. So AU50 is good
    The Benin coin is cool and I got imaging on all of these. I'll reply in this forum thread with the pics when I get them

    I received my errors back
    Soon I will image my errors in slabs, for my $1 and $2 error sets. I love these sets I have started, and am now thinking of selling up my US sets to pursue the more costly error. I missed the coin shown below which fetched nearly $2000 AUD (inc commission) at auction last week.
    It is very tough to consider selling sets I have worked hard on, but I might sell my commemorative proofs set which has quite a few already, all PF70UC only..
    Same goes for the First Spouse set. It may well depend on the results of my next submission which includes 2 of the recent 5 spouses I need for 2009. Buying them is only a little more expensive now in my AU dollars so I may continue the set. If gold goes to crazy levels I will probably sell the set around peak, since they have such high gold content and are also a great set. Not too many people have a perfect 70 set of them, and it comes at a cost for a few of the harder ones
    Anyway, enough rambling (feels good to write some stuff). The error coins are going to be very easy to image so I might do them tonight in the dark conditions (its 10pm here already). My very own darkroom !

    At least 4/10 2007 got 70, but get the rest of them ! NONE more out of 27 total.. I did take a look at these and thought I was going to get lots of 70's !

    Would be great if it showed the prooflike appearance, however the text in the right page about the coin states well struck throughout, polished dies giving a somewhat prooflike appearance, and only minor scattered contact marks

    New safe !
    Not bad.. checking it for size, looks like another 4x as many slabs again can go in - 20% full ! plus there is a pull out tray at the top.. currently has my 2 multi holders in it
    I do like the NGC coins boxes.. but the door just doesn't quite shut if I try putting the boxes in length ways, and they dont quite fit sideways ! BUGGER..
    Might even swap it for another one, but the stack of NGC holders can hold cheap coins. The rest of the babies are safe away...

    Sadly, three of mine are coming back PF69 UC
    I sent 5 PF eagles and was pretty confident.. have had better results.. all 5 MS ones are not worth submitting ! have found tiny bagmarks on all of them under magnification
    I also have no Reverse of 2007 and want to pick one up instead so let me know if you have TOO MANY ! (like the previous poster, wow)

    Just missed out on the perfect grade. PF69 ULTRA CAMEO
    Other coins in the submission were okay, but one Kangaroo got MS68. Luckily, I picked up a couple more cheap the other day and one is that date. I would like all 3 Aboriginal ones MS70 and have 2 more to try..
    My first silver Panda, a 2009, got MS70 !

    I was very pleased to receive the photo proofs today I ordered, pity the coin and its friends got stuck in customs again ! declared amount was under GST limit (they are exempt anyway since I sent them out in the first place!) but they still got stuck ! grr..
    I will have to write to NGC and ask about their shipping forms, there must be something that can be done. Having to go down to pick them up is not fun !
    Beautiful though.. it came from Goldberg pre Long Beach or Long Beach a couple of years back now, the holder was TERRIBLE but I saw through that and picked it up under high estimate. Most lots were selling above high, so felt it would look good reholdered and would have sold better! so paid for these.. now I must hold onto it, I may even have to sell it now after all this !

    Decepticoin ! so.. will these sellout and how fast? these certainly seem like a hot item to me. Both the Perth mint and Downies have placed order limits
    I just love it.. was a huge huge fan as a kid.. loved both movies
    The evil Megatron is my favourite of the 2 coins. The boxes for these are like an action figure, check the forums under World coins I started a topic
    Also had to get one of these.. well TWO !! if you didn't know, I am a huge Formula 1 fan, and even own a signed Michael Schumacher helmet, quite a rare one. And some more stuff..
    F2008 depicted (should have won the championship) and a sliver of real Ferrari carbon fiber included ? how could I pass it up..

    A tip for posting these easily: copy the text from your submission status, paste it into notepad, then select and copy to clipboard one of the TAB stops.. tabs are between say 001 and 2009.. then CTRL H for find/replace, and paste the tab stop into the find part. Then put a space in the replace with box. Done ! press replace all, and bingo. Paste back into here..
