What a beauty.. should I slab a few coins !
This release was missed by many until NZ post was already running low on stock. I am lucky enough to have a few of these, I wonder should I slab some of the coins ! any thoughts ? this is the only way to get the coin, and it has a mintage of 4000
The PNC has sold from anywhere between $75 (ebay got flooded) and $170 (first few sales). I wonder what would be paid for a slabbed MS70 ! this is very interesting to me. If you have comments let me know!

    Yes, I got one..
Well, my $1 error signature set is going to have something special in it soon (I think). Wasn't sure if I would ever get one of these..
I have asked NGC if they will designate mule for my latest aquisition
A mule is defined as a coin struck with dies not intended to be paired together
Australia's 2005 proof set contained a proof $1 with the "dancing man" reverse
The 2006 set contains the traditional "mob of roos". No 2005 proof $1 "mob of roos" was ever struck in 2005. Not until 2006..
A picture says a thousand words..

Proof Spouses received by NGC.. next up
The Gilded Kookaburra, extremely nice coin ! the spider web is fantastic on this coin.. have not seen the plain silver one apart from the image posted by another member.
Am getting 2 more of these soon, if my first gets 70 I will probably send those too. Anyway on with the show.. here's my next submission
    2 AUSTRALIA 2008 C S$1 PF 100YRS OF ORIGINAL COAT OF ARMS
    1 AUSTRALIA 2008 C $1 MS 100YRS OF ORIGINAL COAT OF ARMS
1 AUSTRALIA 2008 S$1 PF AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA GILDED EDITION
    1 COOK ISLANDS 2007 S$1 PF ORBITAL - SPUTNIK 50TH ANNIVERSARY

    I had to get one..
Apparently this will be an annual issue as well. Why will I buy them ? low enough mintage of 2500..
On the negative side they are costly, about the same gold markup as UK mint gold.. their 12500 etc sell out, so 2500 ?
The 2005 Perth Mint sov with book had a mintage of 7500 and sold out. Lower price helped a lot, this issue is very popular. I have four of the "first 1000 struck" with books and felt bags

A nice silver proof coin ! I really love these.. so I bought 10..
My next shipment is going out today. I currently have a lot more stuff coming in, but one of my most significant June buys was 10 of these lovely silver proofs..
I will post grades when they come. NGC customer service have confirmed they should be able to fit the label.. I think these are going to look great.
    10 AUSTRALIA 2008 P S$1 PF 25TH ANNIVERSARY AUSTRALIA II
Willing to sell a few.. not many, so let me know early if you want one of mine. Ideal for other Australian members but US buyers welcome. The coin also comes with a piece of the only surviving sail from Australia II, the headsail

The Braille dollar is so far difficult in PF70UC
Anyone who has purchased the Braille proof, check them carefully. PF70UC is a possible big money coin. One just went on ebay for $243 USD or around 6 times mint price
I recommend buying a few from the mint, I will buy some more. We have a seemingly perfect coin with tiny flaws which could be on most coins.. if those without the flaws do turn out to be very rare, you want to find the good ones at mint price yourself ! good luck !
I am placing another order ! the flaws in both mine are on the reverse, one on the blind child's hand, at base of forefinger, and a couple in the bookcase. The bookcase could be the more important area with lots of detail seen..

    1927 Canberra Florin PROOF
I am fortunate enough to now own a lovely proof canberra florin, 400 minted in 1927. Many circulated, they were a public issue proof
I have seen horrible badly polished ones, this one has only circulation hairlines and I can't really find any wear either. Its definitely a proof, has wire rims and the right strike characteristics, some mirror left but not deep
Probably going to NCS.. I would dearly love to see it in a NGC PF61 holder. A PF67 or other of the still original ones are worth about $30,000 (USD)
The image does not do it any justice at all (lucky, or it would have cost much more)

I have been buying these now for over a week.
I have already amassed a large number of silver dollars in mint state, hopefully lots of 70. I will be offering them in the money marketplace on the Collectors Society forum once graded. More info to come.
In a moment.. my awesome latest acquisition.. from China

Invoice 2753105 on its way back to me with...
    2000 AUSTRALIA 10C AU 55
    2000 AUSTRALIA MULE 10C OBVERSE $1 AU 55
    2000 AUSTRALIA $1 XF 45
A nice second set.. PS if you are looking at the pop for the $1 mule it is really around 2000 or more. And the 62 is 63, a typo ? it must happen. This coin is nice but not realistically UNC either.

A couple of days ago, I bit the bullet. 2008 and 2009 Kookaburras MS70 for my sets !! I had no luck with my submissions so why submit more and more.. I eliminated 2 more slots
My other sets will get a big boost if my predictions on the submissions are correct. LOTS of 70 on the US coins. At least some expected on the Aussie coins. I wait in hope..

Are PCGS Genuine slabs identifiable in any way by serial ?

If you enter a damaged coin in the NGC registry using only its serial number, what happens ?Hopefully the problem coins are kept out automatically. If not, then what to do ? they could a) Disallow PCGS coins from the registry. Give a coupon to anyone who wants to stay, and crossover at a discounted rateI don't like this idea either, but just because I posted it doesn't mean you have to start insulting me..b) Allow NCS coins, and slash the points on both NCS and PCGS coins. This discourages using PCGS coins in the NGC registry.. they can just go to the PCGS registry anywayAny other ideas? No this is not an anti PCGS rant. Please do not fire off without reading first !

    The 2000 $1 with 10c obverse MULE
A classic decimal rarity in high demand.
Just before this coin was to appear in the single bible of Australian coins "Greg McDonald's Pocket guide to Australian coins and Banknotes" I decided to buy a couple of high grade mules
I got this one.. now sold it at great profit
Lesson for the day. PUBLIC awareness of an investment coin will push the price up far quicker than anything else.
I bought this coin for a reason, and it paid off
I have another.. which has a lovely center strike giving FULL double rim, in my signature set $1 oddities. It will be replacing the coin I sold :

    http://coins.www.collectors-society.com/usercontent/images/coinsigset_images/col-socphotos/2192253-002R.jpg
The buyer should be very happy with the original mint luster, decent strike and good surface condition of this coin. It is hard to argue with the MS grade but I advertised it as probably realistically AU58, It has toned and doesn't LOOK like an UNC $1 Australian coin - which are very bright and gold yellow ish.
    The material is Aluminium/Bronze

My only remaining mule is now in the set. Scans only available sorry. See below for the presentation which always gets a positive comment when people see it.
I'll try to photo it soon when I do a big photo session

Here is the description from the English side of the card that came with it. These are from the Chinese mint in Taiwan
The Central mint vacuum-cast the worlds heaviest gold ingot weighing 220.3kg to be the main attraction and crowning achievement of its new gold museum in Rui-Fang Township, Taipei County. The Central Mint has minted these medals especially to memorialize this auspicious event.
Obverse: Features an engraving of of the endangered Formosan Black Bear (Selenarctos formosanus), whose Chinese name, by virtue of being homonymous with the word for "hero", symbolizes the quality of being "outstanding" or "a cut above". The Central Mint used advanced high-relief minting technology for the first time in the minting of this medal, and is proud to have created a piece worthy of being cherished.
Reverse: Features an image of the world-record gold ingot with fineness and weight on it, and is engraved with the date upon which the new world record was officially registered by Guinness.
    Diameter: 70mm
    Material: Gold plated copper
    Weight 200g
    Mintage: 3000
    Price NT$ 2,280
This is a huge medal. I will try to take a picture of it and post in the forums. Oh.. I got 2 greedy, I know..

Nice.. they did a good job !
Would be great if it showed the prooflike appearance, however the text in the right page about the coin states well struck throughout, polished dies giving a somewhat prooflike appearance, and only minor scattered contact marks
