  1. That's a neat Indian, Winston. I see it has a PhotoSeal sticker on it, too!

I like the reverse, particularly. smile.gif

This is a wierd looking Kennedy from a 79 Mint set. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif My dad was going to spend it, but I saved it because it looks neat. grin.gif

I posted the seller's image of this coin a waaaay long time ago. I still like it. grin.gif

I wasn't allowed to have it until Christmas, and now I have finally photographed it for myself. smile.gif

It is not ENTIRELY problem free (there is a patch of lines by Miss Liberty's head) but it looks wonderful in my Dansco Type Album. cloud9.gif

  2. That's a terrific lens, Mike! smile.gif

Amanda, if that is a Capital Plastics holder, which it looks like it is, then it is of a style that they have not made for perhaps two decades and it has value aside from the coins it contains. By the way, I love the look of that set. smile.gif

Yes, it is an old Capital holder. My dad has had the holder since he collected in the 70s I think. When I became interested in Numismatics last October, he started building the set for me. And it's done now! (But he was too excited to wait for Monday. wink.gif )

    Thanks! smile.gif

  3. My 1827 has stars extending towards the rim like that, and someone told me it was because it was a late die state. Someone could have been pulling my leg, though. insane.gif

Here is a new buffalo for my quirky herd. grin.gif

He's got reverse clash marks in the usual place near EPU from the Indian's neck, but curiously there are no matching marks under the Indian's chin. This leads me to believe that the obverse die was either effaced or changed while the reverse die was left alone. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

Also, something about the rims nags at the back of my mind, but I can't quite put my finger on it. confused-smiley-013.gif

The strike for this issue is often INCREDIBLY weak, owing to several factors like worn dies and an increased distance between dies during striking.

Also, the first two digits in the date are often weak, as is seen on this example.

With a mintage of 4.8 million, it's a nice date, hardly a key though.

    I grade this one a strong G-6. smile.gif

  4. Thanks Zoins! In the end, collecting is about whether or not I like the coin(s), and not about if others approve. True, I asked your opinions, but only to strike up small conversation (which seems to have turned into a hatred conversation). I like it just fine, and can't wait to get it.

Chad, no one hates you. They are just saying (and I agree) that the coin has issues. You know these issues and you like it anyway. That's great! It's differences that make the world go round.

But there is a difference between low grade and low grade problem-free. I also am working on a low-grade type set, mainly because of my limited budget. But problem coins are out there! (I know because I have bought a few. wink.gif ) My aim is to replace these with problem free examples. smile.gif (I only have a couple baddies that I know of...)

I can PROMISE you that there are low-grade eye appealing coins out there to be had! Patience, my friend. smile.gif

PS- Ten bucks isn't bad, I guess and if it makes you smile, then it's worth it.
