The last time the U.S. hosted the @FIFAWorldCup, it was celebrated with modern commemorative coins, including this 1994-W World Cup $5 Proof. Explore this coin in NGC Coin Explorer: https://bit.ly/2HOlppI

This 1936 Cleveland commemorative was struck to commemorate the centennial of the founding of the city in 1836. A celebration known as the Great Lakes Exposition was also held to commemorate the event and was also the location at which the coins were sold for $1.50 each. The first issue of 25,000 pieces sold out, so an additional 25,000 were struck the following year but were still dated 1936. Those also sold out, leaving a final mintage of 50,000 pieces.

...the War of 1812 (between the US and Great Britain) began. Here is what US currency looked like that year: a Classic Head Cent, a Capped Bust Half Dollar (toning) and a Capped Bust Half Eagle (gold). Explore these series at http://NGCcoin.com/coin-explorer .

We would like to thank everyone for their patience as we transitioned to the new NGC Chat Boards.
Between the NGC, CGC and PMG Chat Boards we migrated and reformatted more than 9 million posts -- a process that unfortunately required a significant amount of time. We know that downtime and issues related to the launch of new software can be frustrating.
The new NGC Chat Boards have a number of new features. It has a responsive design which makes it much easier to use on mobile devices. Also, Collectors Society and Chat Board accounts were merged so that you no longer have to maintain two separate logins. All you need is your Collectors Society login to access both.
Some of you have asked about the ability to share a Journal post to the Chat Boards. A new, improved journals experience is coming very soon! Check back for an update soon.
We invite you to access the new Chat Boards from the NGC site or the Collectors Society site (see illustrations below).
If you were logged in at either of those sites, you will be automatically logged in at the message boards. If you have any difficulty logging in, please send an email to
    service@ngccoin.com
We appreciate everyone's time and energy as we all get comfortable with the new setup.
We will continue to listen to feedback and answer question to make the transition as smooth as we can make it.

Every year, NGC awards the top Competitive Sets and Custom Sets in the NGC Registry. To qualify, your sets must be registered by 5 p.m. ET on Dec. 3, 2014. Winners will be announced Jan. 9, 2015.
Obscured sets will not be considered for awards. If an owner of an obscured set wishes to compete for awards and have the rank of their set displayed, they must change their set from obscured to public by October 1, 2014.

The Certified Collectibles Group (NGC, NCS, PMG, CGC, CCS and Collectors Society) will be upgrading its web servers in an effort to provide the fastest and most robust websites to collectors and dealers.
The websites will be unavailable for a few hours starting Sunday, April 21 at 1pm EST until the process is complete. We anticipate that they will be back online by 7pm EST.
The Collectors Society chat boards will remain online during that time.

There is a small glitch in the Coin Registry system that is preventing us from processing pending entries as quickly as we would like. There is a large number of pending entries and we are working as quickly as we can to get them all approved.

We apologize for the delay and thank you for your patience.

We will be running an archive function on our server between the hours of 12am-12 noon on Sunday. While this is happening, there will be interruption in the following functionality:
    1. The order status function for paid Collectors Society members and dealers.

    2. The certification number lookup function for paid Collectors Society members and dealers.

    3. All Registry items will be processed on Monday for final inclusion, but they can be entered as normal over the course of the weekend. They simply won't be processed until Monday.

Earlier this year, NGC expanded its Star Designation to all grades of US coinage up to MS 69 and PF 69.
A coin with Star Designation is automatically assigned a Registry point premium in order to recognize its exceptional eye appeal for the grade. Prior to the expansion, the Star Designation was limited to coins grading between MS 63/PF 63 and MS 69/PF 69 and therefore we needed to create Registry scores for star designated coins with grades lower than 63. Today we will implement an update to the Registry that will include these scores.
As the result of some feedback and observations we also performed a general review of the points given to already registered star designated coins and found some anomalies. In the next week we will implement a recalculation of points assigned to already registered Star Designated coins to make the point premium for the designation more consistent across all grades.
Thanks as always for your participation in the NGC Registry.

We are experiencing a technical problem on one of our servers this morning. It is causing interruption in the following functionality:
    1. The order status function for paid Collectors Society members and dealers.
    2. The certification number lookup function for paid Collectors Society members and dealers.
    3. Registry items entered during this time may fail due to a lack of connection with the server. These entries will be held in an administrative area and processed for final inclusion after server communication is restored.
We hope to have this problem resolved by sometime this afternoon if not sooner. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your patience.

I am sorry to report that we are experiencing a technical problem on our server again today. It is causing interruption in the following functionality:

    3. Registry items entered during this time may fail due to a lack of connection with the server. These entries will be held in an administrative area and processed for final inclusion after server communication is restored.
We hope to have this problem resolved within about 4 hours if not sooner. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your patience.

Many Registry users complained that XF and AU-graded coins received the same scores and were not broken out by the numeric grades. With this feedback in mind, NGC will now be showing different scores for XF 40, XF 45, AU 50, AU 53, AU 55, and AU 58, as well as for Plus and Star-graded coins.
This will involve a recalculation of many Registry scores, but will now recognize the value and rarity differences of these grades. As a result of this enhancement, many sets are marked as updated if they included coins graded in this range.
We look forward to future enhancements that will continue to improve the NGC Registry.

In respose to much feedback regarding the method of handling sets with tied scores, we've made some changes.
In the past, sets with the same score were ranked according to which set achieved the high score first.

A change has been implemented so that the Registry system will first rank by score and in the case of a tie the system will determine which set has the highest percentage of coin images. If the score and percentage of images is equal between two sets, then the percentage of coin descriptions will be considered. In a case where score, images and user descriptions are equal the system will then sort by the date the score was achieved. So to break it down, ranking is achieved by considering in this order:

    1. Set score
    2. Percentage of coins with images
    3. Percentage of coins with descriptions
    4. Date the score was achieved

We hope, through this change, to reward and encourage those who share their sets more fully by providing the pictures and personal descriptions that allow others to truly enjoy the sets, as well as to reduce the number of ties.
