The best Hobby ever
MY Grand Father left me a 1986 Statue of Liberty Proof Set. I wanted to protect it so I sent it off to NGC to Grade. I studied it before sending under a 10x loope and a 30x microscope and found slight imperfections to the planchets and figured they would come back PF 69 UC. No surprises here they came back as expected. Of course I would have liked them a lot quicker, but thats just my impatience. When I send coins out I check at least three times a day to see there progress. I like to say Good Job NGC. Now my grandfathers set is protected in a multi holder for the next generation. As soon as I can take aproper picture I will start to post. Thanks NGC, Collectors Society

Not Good Enough for NGC
I have recently found four Minnesota D DDR's #1. I have read that PCGS is grading these varieties. When I asked NGC they said no.
Is this a mistake? I belong to the Collectors Society and only use NGC to grade my coins, I do respect the work they do. This just doesn't seem right. I want to have these coins graded, but it is important to have the proper designation on the slab. Is this policy going to change or was I misinformed.
Frustrated
This was my answer
Dear Mr. Brown,
Thank you for your inquiry. We do not recognize this variety, so we
will not designate this variety when we grade the coin.
If you have any further questions please feel free to contact me.

It's nice to finally find something that I've been reading about in Coin World

A quick note
Unfortunately do to down sizing at the plant I'll have to put my coin collecting on the back burner. For now I am trying my hardest to hold onto what I have. This year (2008) I built my first #1 Registry Set 1957 Toners and upgraded my IHC's and Error Collections. Also a #1 Proof Pres along with 500 others and added quite a few nice Cameos to my 65,66,and 67 SMS Sets. Overall it's been a great year. So for now I will be admiring what I have and trying not to covet what I don't. Happy New Year All
Is it all Hype?
I've seen the adds in Coin World about the Gold Buffalo Dollar.
But I haven't seen any adds advertising sales. Before other new issues are released there are adds promoting sales at a premium over the mint. Normally stating Pre-release or mint fresh. How do we find out how sales are going. Will the mint reach it's goal of 300,000 or is demand not enough. Can sales continue after the end of the year or do they stop and any extra coins be melted and recoined next year? I love my coin. I'm just interested.
