Wow, that was a fairly rare metal in 1869. I don't think it became widely available until about 30 years later.

Wasn't there one year that they did do a trial cent in brass? I know about the 74 aluminum, but I thought there was also a trial brass cent?

Looks like some serious die clashing going on, on that Trime.

Here is an old Anacs photo certificate graded PR-60. I'm guessing that it's more like PF-63 by todays standards. It has some nice reds and blues that I can't capture with my poor photo. skills. I won in on ebay for 80 bucks, and the auction made no mention of the certificate, so it was a nice suprise when it arrived in the mail.

Although it would be tough to grade from the blury pictures, it appears to have quite a bit of chatter. I can't imagine it getting more that a 61 or 62 at best.

Basic Question About Regrading Coins
in US, World, and Ancient Coins
Posted
Hey Mark, what happens if you send the coin still in its currents slab, let's say Anacs for arguments sake and the graders believe it will cross, so they crack it out. Once out of the slab they see something that changes their minds, what do they do then. The coin will not cross, yet it's already out of the original slab.
