Hi, I'm a new member and apologize if this has been previous discussed. I have recently purchased a 2006 Gold Buffalo 1oz gold coin. The coin is in a NGC holder "MS70" with a red First Strikes label. However, the back of the holder is missing the NGC sticker. Is this possible? The dealer told me he purchased the coin from APMEX and thats the way it came. I know the 2006 holders are different than the newer ones but any information on this would be much appreciated.

    Thank you!

If you could share how much did it cost you to get hold of the 2006 Gold Buffalo 1oz gold coin?

    Slight correction to JKK's note:

"Looks like an Imperial one cash coin, circa 1796-1820, Emperor Chia-Ch'ing."

Nope. This "Looks like an Imperial one cash coin, circa 1996-2020, Emperor Ka-Ch'ing." Made in Vietnam.

    :)

You mean, this one is fake ?

    Thanks, Megan.

In answer to megan81, while it's sometimes hard, the replicas will usually not have manufacturing defects that were endemic to vintage coins. Short version: if it looks too good to be true, be suspicious that it might be untrue. In the end, it comes down to looking at a whole bunch of coins. The best reason to believe that this one's authentic is that there aren't very many good economic reasons to make replicas of it, unless maybe someone is selling them for much more than this one looks to be worth.

That helps. Off late, I have come across many coins which give a vintage look & feel, but the acquisition story accompanying the coins look straight out of a movie, very unreal kind.
