I’m not sure about the correct answer to this but is doubling required on all or most of the obverse/reverse to be what one call a true doubled die? Can a coin still be a DD even if only one word is doubled. Obviously value play s role then

Sorry all, last coin question. I’m trying to make myself believe that I’m seeing machine doubling, but I just can’t convince myself yet, the eyes, ear, bow tie, appear doubled, and I see the “notch” on both obverse and reverse. I know if both sides are affected, it’s more likely machine. Let me know what you think. Thanks

1982 D cent sm or lg
in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
Posted
I am familiar with the three main characteristics that you look at to determine whether or not it’s a lg or small date and the “2” is usually pretty easy to tell. However, in this case, the 2 does look like a lg date but then the rest appears to be more like a small date. The 9 is lower and is comparable to the small date, and all the letters are similar to a small date as they are more defined.
