  1. Silver 1901 Pan-American Expo Award Medal Designed by Hermon A. MacNeil, AU. Silver, 63.5 mm. Rare award medal. Designed by Hermon A. MacNeil for the Pan-American Exposition in 1901. $2950 Paypal

MacNeil, an accomplished medalist, designed this award medal for the Pan American Exposition, a world's fair held in Buffalo, New York, in 1901. Manufactured by Gorham, this medal demonstrates MacNeil’s ongoing interest in American Indian themes. The obverse features Liberty walking alongside a bison; the reverse depicts two native Americans, one representing South America (at left, cross legged) and the other depicting North America (at right, seated) sharing a peace pipe to symbolize Pan-American friendship.

    Charcoal-gray with silver highpoints.

The rare original fitted green leatherette and purple velour case of issue, stamped PAN AMERICAN EXPOSITION / 1901, is included  (although it is in poor condition), stamped PAN AMERICAN EXPOSITION 1901 and GORHAM MAN'F'G CO on the reverse.

The Award Medals from the Pan Am are prized pieces. These were awarded to various companies and persons that displayed their wares or talents at the expo.

The medals measure 64mm and were designed by Hermon McNeil. All these medals are rare. There were 887 gold, 1,159 silver, and 1,147 bronze
