Hi Jonescoins,
Your coins has a lot of, what i would think is, damage, If you ask this group for their opinion then that's what you're going to get. they don't have time to sugarcoat anything and that not their job. If you want to save your cons for your son that is your call. I was saving a lot of coins but my son said he didn't want them and they are not worth saving. I put them up here and this group tells me the same thing. if you save coins with damage they with just continue to get worse.
Good luck with you search,
G

I don't know where you got the idea that they are low mintage, as I stated earlier there were hundreds of millions of each series minted and they are by no means scarce. You can buy a complete set of 52 uncirculated on eBay for under $25.00.
Could you please give us a link to where someone is selling them for thousands of dollars? Sounds like something you would see on estey
yes. is estey wrong or illegal? what are they?

Unless you see something I don't I can't see anything worth more than face value.
They look like regular State and America the Beautiful quarters with hundreds of millions of each produced.
there isn't any error that i can see but they're supposed to be low mintage and in relatively good shape so I hope they are worth something more than face value..
so many people have coins like this on ebay for thousands of dollars which i thinks is ridiculous. since I'm not a very grader I would like your opinion before I post them for sale.
thank you for your help,

It's just a 1968 cent that has had its date smeared a bit as the die withdrew. It's a form of strike doubling.
does this mean it's a poor man DD.

Definitely a Large Date. A Small Date has the top of the 7 even with the top of the 9 & 0.
Yours is lower as on the Large Date.
if it a large date but it not a DDO. it not value right.. maybe 5 to 15 dollar ?

I just wish I could blow glass like that. I got that picture off of Ebay.
I remember seeing these in souvenir shops and travel stops like Stuckeys when I was a kid.
My grandfather had boat in a bottle. I saw it up in Canada in my younger day? its absolutely fascinating how they can do that without damaging either of them.. the law of physics.. take care.

Hello everyone and thanks for taking the time! I was recently lucky enough to purchase an un opened tube of 2000 silver eagles, from an unopened mint sealed monster box (I cut the straps). I'm going to send them in for grading sinf the 70s have a great premium but I dont understand the grading fees.
1. For declared value and standard submission under economy or modern is roughly 17 bucks. If the grade 69 or lower... great no harm done.
2. For declared value over 3000 ide have to submit as express with a 60 dollar fee.
If they come back as 70s I'm having an amazing rest of the year... but if they come back as 69 or lower I'm now out the price of the tube and have paid 4x the fee I would have if submitted under scenario 1. The ngc value of a 69 is 45.00 and a 70 is 4250!
I know obviously they all wouldn't come back as 70s and if even 1 comes back 70 I'll make a few hundred profit but it's the difference between 300 and 1200 for grading!
If I submit as express and they grade as 69 or lower will I be charged a lower premium? Or will they just keep the extra and say sorry about your luck?
you should take pictures and put them up here first.. you will save a lot of time and money. this group can tell you what you have and the about grade faster than sending them off to get grading. you may have some that aren't worth grading. good lucky.

Raised blobs or ridges of metal on the tops of otherwise normal looking letters and numbers is common. I see it on my Franklin halves. I think you're looking way too closely at this stuff.
I could say my eyes are getting old.. I'm only trying to do my best. thank you.

yes there is dd on the top.. but since it was on the sides i hope it was dd? how can that happen?

Give those experts a little break on the easy ones that you know.. Later pal.al, later G..--------------- Greenland, those experts are gonna be gone someday, you gotta get ready to take their place before long, (machine doubling, small dates, "no, that's not a triple eyed double nosed flying purple people eater" (again)!!
I have you fool.. I'm to old for all this.. but thank you for the complement. I have learn somethings.. have a great day.. life to short.

I've seen some of this "extra thickness" doubling on Wexlers, and there has to be a definite line or ridge somewhere, that demonstrates actual die doubling. Otherwise it's just a worn out die. Honestly some of these are so microscopic that I have trouble assigning much premium to it.
Thank you for your comment. I feel a little bit better since i tried really really hard to use his site and was very confused with some of the pictures.
Thank you again,

@Greenland As far as the value of any Coin, it is however much someone is willing to pay. I know, sounds cliche, but it's true. I found that watching Fb auctions has given me a good idea of monetary value for raw Coins. Idk if you are on FB or not but it's an idea.
I would never sell an album if I still had any. Had over 2000 as a teenager and my mother trashed them when she trashed us. Albums are making a big come back right now. As far as cards go, my Daddy-O had all Donruss, Topps, Etc from like 195? Boxes of unopened bubblegum packs. Total of 19 file boxes full when he passed. His brother caught him while not in his right head and had him write down that he got them. I was livid but wouldn't fight him. Just wished Dad was still there. 19 boxes. Plus notebooks full hand written stats for every game ever played since 1952.
I'm sorry to hear about your brothers. why do people wast so much energy destroying their family legacy. I have a lot of brother too.. My goal is to finish what my mother wanted done. I truly believe it not what you have in the bank it's your legacy you leave behind good or bad!! it's Sad.. I have so much stuff to sell and no clue how to do it? I have so much family history.. so sad. thank you for your help.

@Greenland Doubled Dies, if not flat out obvious, are especially difficult for some of us to see. Easier on the design than on the characters for me. I see what you're saying about the 'extra thickness' that is used as a description on Wexlers site. The Dimes really confuse me too. I've found that since MD is more common than DD, if you see other signs of Die Deterioration then it's likely doubling due to that. Have you discovered error-ref.com yet? Here's a link to their Error Checklist and to their description of each type of Doubling. I hope it helps, cause it didn't help me but does many others. I just stopped trying to find the DD's. Lol!
I agree with you.. I was using Wexler's web site.. I was confused about the dimes. It seemed they were focused on the stalk and die chip from what I could see. i have had more sales with baseball cards. ..maybe i should sell my record and comic books.. .. I like coins but I just don't have the ability to understand the value.
Quarter Rolls from bank
in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
Posted
Hi Modwriter,
the theory is you never dump coins you gone through in the bank that you're requesting coins from. the other thing is what are you looking for? the banks don't know what they are getting. it's a game of chance. if you're looking for the quarter with a "W" then you have to keep looking.
welcome,
G
