TO MY FELLOW COLLECTOR OF 1980D QUARTER
Idon't want to offend any collectors of modern coins, BUT my fellow collector who posted about the points and rarity of a 1980d wash quarter.Facts: Mintage 518,327,487. that is over 1/2 billion Redbook in ms-65-$6.I would have took the 230 something points and ran like hell and not to complaining about more points. That coin received as many points initially as my 1899 France 1 cent in ms-67 with a mintage of 1 million and no closer grade within 2 grades.I am sure a lot of collectors of none modern coins can give you plenty of examples of modern coin affluence toward the grading companies using ridiculous points on keeping you in the Game....just my 2 cents, thanks

wow - one of a kind - incredible toning
I recently purchased the pride of my collection last week. 1899 france 1 centime in ms-67 with unreal toning. It is the only one graded by ngc.I normally don't collect european or toned coins but couldn't pass this one up.

    WHERE ARE THE GERMANS
Hi collectors,I recently bought some german coins and come to find that the collector society doesnt include them in competitive world coinage. So,Ive been wondering why they dont. They have a wide array of interesting coinage going back 500 plus years. The society includes France,Great Britain and other european coins. If anybody knows why or why not these great german coins are excluded, please post up.So i did the next best thing,I made a signature set up and titled it"THE OUTLAWS OF THE SOCIETY". happy collecting till next time!!! UPDATE : THE COLLECTORS SOCIETY GOT BACK TO ME AND SAID THEY ARE PLANNING TO ADD THE GERMANS TO THE COMPETITIVE WORLD SETS SOON..... COOL!!!!!

    GOLD 1938D BUFFALO?
Hi collectors,I just wanted to share my recent purchase that arrived today. Its a 1938-D gold buffalo nickel in ms-66.Yes I said gold. No,not really gold unless I received the rarest mint error of all.But when you view this coin you would say it is.The coin has uniform and complete toning on both sides. This coin looks even way better in person than the photos.I would say it equals the visual appearance of any $50 buffalo out there,it is that impressive.I dont know of any buffalos out there that have this toning but i'm sure its in the single digits if any at all.The coin was certified in 2003, before ngc started star grades. So I will eventually get it star graded some time down the road. Thanks for viewing and welcome any chatter anytime about this coin or collecting in general, SKY COINS

    The Outlaws grow by one
Hi collectors,I just wanted to share photos of my recent purchase that will be added to my small but growing [ OUTLAWS OF THE SOCIETY ] signature set. This is a 1913 copper ger.3M BAV. PN-16 PF 63. One problem though, the cert.# doesnt match up to the coin description and it has no color designation.I guess it is going back into NGC to correct these two things and possibly get regraded as I and the previous owner think it is undergraded. NGC'S POPULATION OF JUST TWO COINS IN PROOF.The toning on this one is gorgeous. Thanks for looking and can't wait to see some of your recent purchases posted.Until next time, good luck and happy collecting, SKY COINS

The man w/ the gold makes the rules!
Well collectors,as much as i agree with the wealthy influence in the competitive sets as being an up hill struggle- like mt everest, see murphy's law- THE MAN WITH THE GOLD MAKES THE RULES.I also am a little guy with a small collecting budget. The reality is the grading companies wealth comes from the big dealers and wealthy collectors with hundreds if not thousands of submissions every year from each.I look at the point structure for modern coins compared to coins 100 years and older. It all slants hard to moderns so these dealers can grade these coins in mass for resale not for their personal collections.I have sent in five to ten coins in a year to ngc for grading every year and each time they come back I feel like I got hosed by a couple of grades.I have been collecting for a long time and my vision is 20/20 uncorrected. Then I will see the exact same type graded coin on ebay that is 3 to 4 grades higher looking a whole bunch worse than mine w/ an 035 serial # or higher so you tell me who is getting their coins graded w/ a wink and a nod. I digress,a collection of coins , cars ,stamps, guns, historical items and anything with value will always be dominated by big $$$$$$$$$$$$$.So collect for yourself and the challenge and fun. thanks for reading my 2 cents, SKYCOINS

had to start new signature set
Hi,just wanted to share my newest aquisition. An 1848 10c essai maz-1304.This is the only one graded by NGC and is ms-63 bn.I don't know why the collectors society ignores most non gold world coins in their competitive sets. I had to start another signature set, just won't get any points. If you can't score essais than something has to crack. NO WORLD GOLD-NO SCORE- everything else has gone global, how about we throw world coins into the mix. Thanks for listening and happy collecting, -SKYCOINS-

date stamped lincoln.. test coin ?
Help !!! I came across a very interesting penny yesterday. While I was searching thru a large pile of loose change, I noticed a lincoln memorial that stood out as gem unc w/ more of a yellowish copper colored appearance and maybe proof like. I put the coin aside to card it off today. When I carded this coin today, and looked at it under magnification,I noticed the coin was date stamped 12-31-74 above the coins 1975 date. So, if anyone has any info about this coin ,please answer my post.I would greatly appreciate any knowledge about my penny!! Happy collecting and keep checking ur change, SKYCOINS
