Still not able to enter 2006 Proof dimes into the registry.
Hopefully this journal entry will light a fire in their bellies!I have asked why that was in July, I was told it will be added next week. Now it's almost October, the final stretch into the 2007 releases. Still not able to enter proof dimes from 2006.What is going on ! I am not sure who handles the registry catagories now, but when I make an inquiry I get an answer, but it's not an answer. Do you know what I mean? Vague, non detailed as if to only placate me again! If they want to have a registry which has boosted their business untold fold; I believe they should take responsibility for making it,and our participation as timely, and accurate as possible. Join me in contacting NGC regarding the slowness of their annual coin updates. Thank You !

I look at all references but no mention of an S/S variety of the 1970 Lincoln Cent, Yet I have one graded by NGC. IN PF67RD no less.
I have looked at the PCGS price guide. No listing of an S/S variety. NGC lists at as a PR67RD S/S Lincoln, but under comments they state no variety exists, and no numismedia price is assigned, but it's on their coin look-up in black and white. Why? Obviously it does exist since they graded it, listed it and I own it. So I cantacted Glenn Miller of Heritage and he say's intresting, but since he can't find any reference to it it must not be of any intrest. Why? A new variety and no-one cares! He say's maybe I should contact coin world. If it gets some publicity maybe there would be some intrest. Ok so I sent an Email to Ken Potter of Coin World, I guess I will wait to see what he knows or doesn't know. Or worse yet in numismatics, cares or doesn't care!

    Offered $135 for a NGC PF70UC 2008 $5 Gold Buffalo
That offer of $135 for a 2008 NGC PF70UC Buffalo came from a coin dealer in Fresno. He told me he'd give me the current gold price. I said, Wait this is an NGC PF70UC, and this coin is the only year a fractional Buffalo was minted. It's selling for $700-$800 dollars on EBay. His answer was if you want Ebay prices sell it there. I'd offer more for a PCGS graded coin because they grade tougher. I replied, They grade softer if you are a perferred dealer. I've seen it a a coin show where they took this dealers coin and said we can do better than this and upgraded his coin for the $100 dollar fee. Maybe it was under graded the first time. But it seemed really fishy to me. Besides NGC is the official grader for the ANA and PNG. How can you say that . He stated they are a PCGS dealer, and therefore are only serious about the PCGS PR70DC. But you have NGC and ANACS coins here as well and at top dollar, I said. He reiterated his PCGS mantra. The big issue is, don't let local dealers steal from you. What this guy was offering was nothing less than stealing and I sold the coin on Ebay for $750. I am sure hie would have paid me gold price and sold it at EBay price or more!

    Is the stagnation political?
I've read over the years in Coin World many stories regarding political influence over coin design. Case in point; the demand from a State of to keep the home of Thomas Jefferson on the reverse of the nickel coin because it is a tourst attraction in that state.
I am really curious about how much political influence really goes on in stiffling the creativity of coin design. I applaud the new obverse designs of the nickle, the reverse of the Cent and the new quarter programs. But I know we can do much better.
There is so much artistic talent in this country, yet our coins in comparison to other nations are stagnent. I would like to see a commission that is free to design new coinage that displays the artistic talents currently restrained by political influence.
To ignite world collectors who marvel at out talented and unique designs for coins. Just look what the State Quarters and National Park Quarters have done for our hobby, inspiring new collectors not only here but also abroad.
I say turn them loose to be creative and let's make some coins all Americans can be proud of and thus stimulate the hobby to new hights. It's win-win because the mint prospers, and the collectors will be delighted. We may only have a couple hundred years as a nation, but what a rich history we have. Let's bank on it!
