How can you make this post and not show any of your coins?!
We would all love to see some of your favorites.
Im going on my 11th year as what I would consider serious collecting. If I were just coming up on my one year I think I’d take out and lay out my whole collection and admire what I’ve accomplished over the year. If I were going to buy something I know I’d want to buy a coin, but I think the better option would be to buy a reference book.
I think your best option is to do whatever makes you happy!

Awesome coin, Bob! Where is this fountain of toned Lincolns that you and Jeff have cornered?
They won't tell.
Snagged this one for the birth year set. Tough to find with any color:
1957 & 1958 mint sets are notorious for producing some of the most colorful coins out there, other than Morgans.

Solid original coin. Off soon to NGC to get it's MS 66 FBL (hopefully).

Good luck with the submission! If that were a 48 P I'd say it had no chance at a 66, but since it's from Denver it may have a chance. The only real problem I can see is the hit in front of Franklin's forehead. I've been looking for a nice 48 D in 65 FBL for a long time now. They're not easy to locate.

I have no idea how to grade this half as it is way out of my typical collecting interests and I bought it because it looked good
Can you folks suggest a grade?
Best, HT
Very nice. I have no problem with a 66 FBL on this one.

Very nice SkyMan. I've seen that coin before. Someone posted it over at CoinTalk a little while back along with another envelope toner that I believe they said belongs to you.

Thanks SkyMan.
That 54 S is awesome!
That's pretty cool that the coin is pictured in the book. Do you know who took the pictures that are in the book?
I think the pictures you posted are much better, so kudos to whoever took them.

Sometimes very worn coins can be spectacular. Here is an example of one IMO. The luster which is hard to capture - where the luster bands rotate under the light along the edges of the obverse and through the whole fields of the reverse. The toning is rich and the images are accurate for the color bands. The wear is consistent with F12 hence the grade.
Best, HT
Great looking coin.
However, on a coin in that grade, there shouldn't be any luster.

Coinman, that's an awesome proof. What did it grade?
Sky man, are those two raw? They look really nice.
And deerefan that's a cool pair.
I had a pair of 51 s EOR toners but sold one because I didn't like the look of the toning.
I'll get some pics up here soon.

Skyman, that 56 is awesome! I don't think I've ever seen one quite like that.
Very interesting collection of space flown memorabilia, pretty surprising that a 1/4 eagle went into space.
And yes Hurricane, you have to look through a LOT[/b] of junk on eBay before finding something decent.

That's a nice proof you picked out Hurricane, and as Skyman said, with a bit of cameo on the obverse.
I own a few Franklin proofs myself, nothing major as I'm concentrating on business strike Franklin's right now.
Once I have a full set of business strikes I plan to look more into the proofs. I'd like some with a lot of cameo contrast eventually.
Here are two raw '56s of mine

That 57 D looks great.
Looks a lot like this 58 D I bought and flipped on eBay a few months ago.
Only coin I've ever had seller's remorse for. I was able to get this thing ridiculously cheap.
It's an NGC 66.

Here's my avatar. As you can see, the reverse isn't really as bright as it appears in my avatar. I turned that saturation way up for that.

One Year Coin Collecting Anniversary!
in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
Posted
I was the same way in my first year or two. Luckily I never bought any problem coins or severely overpaid for anything. I accumulated a lot of what I thought at the time were great coins but as I learned more and viewed more coins I realized most of what I bought was pretty common stuff.
Over the years I’ve sold off all the stuff that never really wowed me and kept all the material that I really enjoyed looking at. I still have a lot of those original coins I bought and have thought about selling until I realize what I’d get in return is not much and I’d rather hold on to them to show my future kids and grandkids.
