1909D and 1917 type 1 for my 25c type set.
Hi all, its been awhile since I posted here so I thought I would share pictures of a couple of new quarters. I collect on a limited budget so I don't look for coins in a high grade, just ones with eye appeal. Both of these are graded AU-55, let me know what you think of them. The other images are in the first reply.

    1833 Capped Bust quarter
I wrote a journal a while back about a 1833 Capped Bust quarter that I purchased. That particular quarter wound up being stolen and was returned to the rightful owner. I had been searching for a replacement and found one about a month ago. PCGS EF-45

    Newest addition
This is the newest addition to my 31-38 date set. I love the Capped Bust design, but I chose the quarter to collect as there does not seem to be that many people that collect these as a set. Only three more to go to complete this set! Thanks for looking.

    What a fiasco!!!
Let me start by saying that the ebay seller ne14adeal2 was very professional and a great person to deal with, the Fresno P.D. not so much! once he and I were notified by the police that the coin was reported stolen, he was very quick to refund my money. The coin is now on its way back to the rightful owner and I am glad this is over.

My latest coin purchase ( a stolen coin )
The good news, I found a 1833 Capped Bust quarter on ebay last week so I bid on it and won. I checked the cert number on PCGS and saw that it was registered to someone there. I sent them an email requesting them to remove it from their set. The bad news, this morning I received an email from the Fresno police department stating that the coin was reported stolen. The good news, the original owner is getting their coin back, and that makes me happy
I know a lot of people don't like slabs or the whole registry game, but without those cert numbers on the slab and having it registered this person would probably never would have recovered this coin

    My fathers day gift
This is the newest addition to my Capped Bust set. My wife wanted to get me a coin but she doesn't know much about the hobby, so I gave her a list of a few different coins, grades and price ranges to stay in. Here is the end result and I am very happy with it!!

A trade with Six Mile Rick
Most of the time when you try a trade with someone it is very difficult to come to terms that are agreeable to both parties. Not so with this trade,we came to an agreement quickly and easily.Rick is honest and easy to work with!!

I might actually finish this set!
I have been working on my 32-64 Washington quarter set for a few years now, hoping to finish maybe in the next year or so.I recently added a 1942S in MS66,bringing the set to 75% complete.
As there are fewer coins now that I need to finish this set,it is increasingly harder to save my limited budget and not buy other coins that interest me!Oh well I am only human.
I would also like to thank everyone who takes the time to view my sets,it means alot to me!

    Thanks, Jason

Could someone please help me understand?
I was going through the coin explorer in Washington quarters looking at members pictures at the bottom of the page.I came across the 1976D,the two pictures at the bottom of the page were both MS67 but they had different scores. It appears that in the 65 to 98 set it scores 348 points but in the quarter dollar type set(inc 20 c) the same coin only scores 304 points.I thought points were given to a coin regardless of what set it is in.could someone explain why a coin would go up or down in points depending on what set it is in??

    To costly to produce
just read an article on yahoo news that Canada is phasing out the penny.production will stop in the fall of 2012.During Thursday's budget announcement, finance minister Jim Flaherty announced that the Canadian one cent coin was going to be phased out, saying "pennies take up too much space on our dressers at home." .

    Do they affect pricing
As we all know PCGS coins generally command a premium over identically graded NGC coins. It is stated to buy the coin not the holder, but that is not always the way it is sadly! My question is do any of the different "GENERATIONS" of NGC slabs make a coin sell for a premium.I have heard stories of NGC being lax on grading standards in the past.Would this cause a decrease in value in certain "GENERATIONS" of slabs. What do you think?
