NGC needs to fire their design team.
What in the world was NGC thinking when they brought out this new holder design? A holder should be an attractive background for a coin--or at least neutral. I've been able to put together the # 72 ranked Morgan Date set during the past year. I also have a nicely ranked St. Gaudens Date set and a complete ASE set. I was going to send in 5-10 raw coins for grading to boost my ranking. No thanks. Hate to say it but there is no way any of my coins are going into those holders. NGC is forcing me to go to PCGS and I don't like that. I hope fellow collectors heat up the phones and emails letting the brass at NGC know that they laid a bomb.
Update--Just to be clear. My objection is to the "Edge View" holder. It looks very cheap like a plastic stone setting. I applaud the increased security features incorporated in the external portion of the holder.

God help us in times of trials.
This is my second posting. I've calmed down a bit since I sent an email to W.K.F. Now Gilmore chimes in. I'm well aware that this sites primary purpose is to exchange thoughts and ideas about coin collecting, however, some people actually regard this site as a way to relate what is going on in their lives. I've seen that theme through many postings. What do you guys think a community is about? It's people helping people. We are going through a very difficult time. If a community member reaches out for help you don't slap their hand. Can either of you imagine what it took for some of our community members to ask for our help? You want to pull out the RULE BOOK? God help us if we don't have the love and charity to help each other. I'm buying one of Namvette68 sets. That's all I have to say.

I have been enlightened by Jackson
Jackson has pointed out that the entry date of a coin can also be the date that the system updated the coins value/points. Not an anomaly just how the Registry System operates. Makes perfect sense to me.
    Thanks, Jackson

    It's a coin with a Photographic Pedigree
The term "plate" refers to the fact that the coin was photographed and used as an example in a coin publication. For example: Redbook Plate, Breen Plate etc. Simply refers to the fact that the particular coin was the best example the author could find to illustrate their description. MPD is Miss Placed Date. Information is from various online sources. Hope this helps

I've finaly realized that PayPal/Ebay is a financial cartel.
I had previously sold/bought coins on Ebay for 5 years. Two months ago I noted "new" guidelines for both PayPal and Ebay regarding sells/buys "protections". Without reason a transaction could be suspended if the PayPal software detected a "potential for fraud". I decided that this was Corporate B/S and canceled my Ebay and PayPal accounts.
Two weeks ago I reopened Ebay and PayPal accounts. I would like to sell and buy under as many venues as possible. No problem.
I listed 14 Morgan Dollars. 7 sold. I received several emails from PayPal that although my coins had sold and were paid for PayPal had decided that the payments should be held for 21 days.
PayPal actually said to ship the coins and they "might" lower the hold requirements. UNBELIEVEABLE. Calls to both Ebay and PayPal met the corprorate brick wall. I cancelled all transactions and requested buyers to contact me for alternative payments.
I had previously had a 485 transaction rating at 100% positive 4.9 according to Ebays scale. Declined their Power Seller invitation.
I'll keep my accounts open to buy if the opportunity comes up. Ebay/PayPal will be the very last resource.
Thanks for reading my rant--It could be you.
