Sometimes I think "Why do I waste my time and cash".

I am 45 and I have been collecting since I was a kid and dealing on and off for the last 4 years. When I am selling sometimes I think "I am going to regret selling that one" and to no ones supprise I have. I have made some cash but I have lost cash as well. At one show I made some great cash on Gold so one night I figured I would buy a bunch and turn it for a bunch of cash. Well,,,, it didn't turn out that way and I damn near lost my shirt on it. I am asked by my girl friend "Why don't you just sell all of that " I have showed her that there is money to be made in this business but mostly I just love the hobby and refuse to just dump it to a dealer for pennies on the dollar. Granted,,, I know a couple of honest dealers that would even pay me decent money but I just can't let them go. I have let some stuff go and of course I have been cherry picked, But the best stuff I still have. I have given a lot of thought as to why I can't just sell this stuff, I don't have kids, I have one neice and that about wraps it up. So it's not like she will get a whole lot out of it. So why do I hold on to this stuff? A lot of time I can be found with a loupe stuck to my face looking at the same stuff over and over again hoping to find more diamonds in the rough. Believe me I have! I still get a thrill out of finding that rare variety that I only pay $40 bucks for but as we all know something is only worth what someone is will to pay for it. I love toned coins, the feel of history in my hands, thinking who may have spent this coin. So... Why can't I just sell all of my stuff and start over? Is it nostalgia, is it the feeling like I will sell a piece that is worth 10 time what I sold it for, I think everyone gets the picture here. I don't have the mind set of a true coin dealer but I do like to see someone get that look of joy when they get that coin they have been wanting but couln't afford or find till they came to my table. Maybe someone can figure out by reading this why I waste my time and cash. Thank you
