. . . I remember going through my "daily take", after a day with my shoe-shine box

Over the last year, I've been flipping through some of the sets and Journals here at NGC, I've seen so many beautiful, valueable, and quite extensive collections, some of US coins I didn't know even existed. One has to wonder with some of these sets "When would this person have time to do anything else?" It is also obvious that some of those collectors are very well off. At least the've invested in a worthwhile hobby. Me, like most of you, I'm just a schlepper just getting by. My collections are quite common, tokens of better times in my life, and a re-kindling of those days back in the 60's as a kid and my "daily take" with my shoe-shine box, trying to fill those holes in my Whitman folders(some that I still have Today), and wondering if I'll ever fill them all in.

My teenage daughter, my sons now in their mid-20's, and my Wife watch me with all my junk spread out on the dining room table or on my belly in my bedroom tinkering with the Dansco's or an "air-tite", sometimes with a loupe stuck in my face, and they snicker like I'm a jerk! This is the stuff that I hang on to for my enjoyment and a little nostalgia, I'm always hoping it'll spark a little interest in them to take up the hobby seriously. At least my Daughter who's 18, likes the Beatles and other 60's-70's music, and likes to help me out with the dates that I have a hard time reading. Maybe I'll leave it all to her when I croak, my boys will probobly just use the silver eagles to buy cigarettes or a six-pack, or gas (maybe not gas, my poor Wife'll get stuck with that tab)! Any similar stories out there?
