You never know what will happen

I am taking the time to share with you my experiences with grading of coins. Every day I look at coins that I may buy or sell. It is important that I have command of the likely grades of coins that I encounter. When coins falls outside of what I thinks the grade of a coin should be, then I take notice. Why you ask, well as a buyer I hope not to over pay for a coin. A coin that perceived to fall in to a grade range upon first examinations then to find that the coin falls into a lower grade range, could be costly. The coin is question is not worth that much but it go to show what we as coin lover need to see and expect from a third party grading company. Our money is on the line. A little education can go a long way. As I stated early in my post this coin was graded as a MS70. Take a look closely at the marking on the L in liberty. There are three marks on the L. Now with these marking on the L would you think this would be graded as a MS69? As you know it is was graded as a MS70. Which goes to question how many marking on the coin will lower the coins grade by one grade and where those marking are, how that will impact the grade? Today, I am not sure any longer.

Now some of you reading this post will say who cares, you should just be happy. This is not about being sad or happy it is all about the money. If I am buying a ten thousand dollar coin and I am paying for what I think is a MS63 coin and it is graded out to MS62 one lower grade it could be costly. But if you still don?t care well it?s your money, have at it.
