The All-American Buffalo Chip Set

James Earle Fraser's actual, and inspired designs of the American Bison with the native American appearing on our coins for 100 years. These are our Buffalo Chips!

The Set embodies the 20th & 21st Century US and Canadian minted coins featuring Fraser's designs, beginning with the "world famous" Indian Head or Buffalo nickel, circulated from 1913 to 1938. These coins depict the Buffalo/Bison/Indian Head, North American Coins designed or inspired by sculptor James Earle Fraser's depictions of Black Diamond(Starring as the Buffalo), and the American Indian, whose Image is a convergance of images posed for by several Native Americans that included Chief Iron Tail and Chief Two Moons. (And, In retrospect, also holds an eerie resemblence to the native American who took part in the pollution TV commericals of the 60' & 70's.-Brings a tear to My eye-Too!)

Inspired by Frazier's design, also emerged versions of the American Bison as on the 1991 Mount Rushmore Commemorative Clad Half Dollar (Reverse); 2005 Westward Journey Nickel "Grazing Buffalo" Obverse; and on the Obverse of the Clad and Silver versions of the 2005 Kansas, the 2006 North Dakota, 2007 Montana Statehood Quarters, and the 2010 Yellowstone* National Park Series Quarters each depicting the American Bison in similar landscape settings.

My Goal in creating this set was to provide an informative and attractive medium that provokes interest and respect for the life and heritage of the North American Natives, and the importance of, and dependence on the American Bison, held to by both the Native Americans and the settlers alike.

A real irony is that at his end "Black Diamond", rather than being "stuffed" for a museum display, became "stuffing" for sausage, and ground round in a butcher shop. How Tragic a close for our "prestigeous american icon."

All coins in this set are certified by NGC, at(or Very Close to)"Finest" Grade available. I recently sold the 31pc. set to my old pal Bill Murray (I Really neded the money). Bill has vowed to me that he will perpetuate the set, to build and improve upon this coin group.

By the way, that's me(with my Wife Dora and my Daughter Antoinette in the picture, thought the picture kinda fit-in with the era and theme.
