Time to write Santa a letter about COINS!

I love this time of the year! With the celebration of Thanksgiving, my thoughts always turn to my letter to Santa. Yes, I still believe in Santa! I?m sure this year like last year I will find some new collecting surprises under the tree. I particularly love finding rolls of coins in my stocking. My kids have me figured out as well and I am certain they will also be wrapping rolls of pennies for me so I spend Christmas afternoon scouring through them after all of the paper is torn. My 24 year old son is also in for a treat this year. My wife and I have already gotten him a ?horse blanket?, a clean crisp 1923 Large Note Silver Certificate, for his currency collection. I don?t know much about the value of old currencies but I think I got it for a fair price but even if I didn?t the surprise on Christmas Day and the joy it will bring my son will more than make up any premium I may have paid.

Where the beginning of November provided slim pickings for my bottom fishing approach to acquiring coins, the last week has more than made up for it. After musing about upgrading my Proof Lincoln Memorial set to PF70UC from PF69UC, I had a 2009S LP4 PF70UC fall in my lap. This is the second PF70UC in the set and I guess that puts me a bit ahead of schedule for my goals for next year. I also added another PF70UC State Quarter to my set, 2005S Oregon Silver and then just to make the holidays a bit more festive I picked up my first MS66 wheat cent for my MS Lincoln Cent Set. It?s sort of strange to think that I started this journey in to the world of graded coins just about a year ago. It has been a great adventure so far. I have loved every minute of and do not expect the excitement to wane any time in the near future or the distant future for that matter.

But all that aside, I want to thank everyone here for their help and encouraging words of support over the last year as I ventured into this wonderful new adventure. I truly hope that you and your families have a truly wonderful Thanksgiving.

I will leave you with an image of the new PF70UC LP4 Lincoln Cent, a perfect penny hoping all of us have a perfect Thanksgiving.
