Success finally...

This is my first Journal entry so be kind in your replies (if any).

My favorite journals have always been the ones where members tell of their successes (or failures) when cracking out coins and resubmitting to NGC. I've tried the "crossover" track several times with limited success but wanted to share my first experience with cracking out the coins.

On a a couple of recent submittals, I cracked out four coins as follows: (1) 1964 Japan 100 Yen Olympics, NNC, MS67, (2) 1938 D/D Buffalo, ANACS, MS 62, (3) 1883 No Cents Liberty, PCI Green, MS 64, and (4) 1951-D Washington, PCI Gold, MS66.

Results were posted today and are as follows: (1) 100 Yen came back as MS 64 (Lower), (2) 1938 d/d received a MS62 (Same), (3) 1883 received a MS 64 (Same), and (4) 1951-D received a MS67+* (NGC Top Pop).

As expected the NNC slabs were overgraded while ANACS and PCI received comparable results. The unexpected item was the Washington. It received a "67+*". It is a beautifully toned quarter with excellent eye appeal (I'll post a photo when available).

For once, the coins I crossed over came back better than expected. I just wish my "raw" submittals had been as successful...

I'll end with a photo of my 1968 Mexico 25 Pesos (Olympics) Type 3 which came back as MS65 (top pop) with only a few graded.
