This is just to let those who have put me on their Friends list

know that "Electric Peak Collection" has not somehow intruded.

I never really liked the name "Low Budget". Certainly I don't have the deep pockets that some collectors do, but I've managed to spend more than a 'low budget' over the past several years. So as I suggested last year that I might do, I decided to change my Registry name. But to what? It seems to me that the name of a place or event that has some meaning to me would be fitting.

I very much enjoy the outdoors, hiking, rock climbing, etc., and I have a special affection for Yellowstone National Park.

I spent two summers doing laundry for a motel in West Yellowstone, MT. On my days off I would borrow a car or truck, drive to a trail head, and go hiking in the park or surrounding area. On July 31, 1982, I went with four other guys to hike up Electric Peak, the 4th highest peak in the park at nearly 11,000 feet. It is near the north entrance to the park, frequently seen in the background of photos of the stone arch at that entrance. The mountain supposedly got its name because the first ascent was made during an electrical storm - complete with buzzing noise and hair standing on end.

Including my mild tinnitus, that's sort of how I feel when I get excited about coins. Combine that with the memories of a long (24 miles round trip) and really fun hike & scramble to the top, followed by sliding down a long snow bank on a garbage bag, and I have what I think is a good name for my collection.
