New Commemoratives for 2011-2014
Nice coins on the way!
As people who read my posts and look at my collections know, I am a huge fan of the modern commemorative coins. I like the range and scope of subjects they honor each year and I look foward to the designs that are choosen. Some are incredible winners like the 2001 Buffalo Silver $1 which seemed to sell out over night. Then you get the other extreme like the 2008 50c Bald Eagle/Chicken coin that could win the ugliest coin contest in my opinion.
Anyway what I am getting at is that I read up on what is in store for us in the next few years when it comes to the commemorative program.
In 2011 the United States Army Commemorative Coins in $5 gold, $1 silver, and 50c clad will be released. The Medal of Honor coin will also be issued this year in $5 gold and $1 silver. I see the MoH coin going fast.
In 2012 the Infantry Silver Dollar will be issued. 2 US Army coins in 2 years...got to love that!
2013 will follow up the 2010 Boy Scouts with the Girl Scouts of America Centennial Silver Dollar. If the MS strike does as good as the Boy Scouts...it should sell out fast.
2014 will have the Civil Rights Silver Dollar, honoring the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
I can say that I am looking foward to these coins especially the military themed ones. They do represent a good cause and it's good to know they will get the surcharge from the sales.
The web site that I use is Coinnews.net and they also have links for more info on these coins.
Enjoy them coins
Jeffrey
