Already, the response to my last journal has been huge. Seems like too many people are getting poorly graded co

I beleive both NGC and PCGS both offer a warranty on their grading service. The time has come for everyone out there to grab a 5x magnification device (as used by the grading companies)and inspect all our coins. Everyone that owns a less than perfect 70 or a 69 that shouldn't come close. We band together and collect on the warranty only this will bring about the necessary change.

The following was my response to someone who wrote me complaining about a 69 graded coin that "literally looked like the A had been removed with a screwdriver". : I really hadn't seen things get so bad until the last couple of years. It almost seems like they've relaxed most on the modern stuff especially Early Release and even in PCGS things seem a tad bit more lax with "First Strikes" which ironically bring in a substantial premium. I find the First Strike designation to be almost insulting yet will grab it when I can as the majority of collectors will pay that huge premium for the little flag it adds to the holder. I even know a seller that states in his site "that being that PCGS grades First Strikes easier he actually "re-evaluates" them and is willing to sell those in PQ (premium Quality) over the "regular" First strike 70's at a higher cost"! Yet I have seen First Strikes sell at 2-3 times the price of non-FS coins. Even when the #'s for non-FS coins are substantially less. I prescribe to coinnews.net for daily coin news from around the world just today they wrote an article about CAC regrading all NGC and PCGS coins. It then affixes a distinctive green sticker to the holder of each coin which, in its judgment, fully merits the grade that was assigned. Since opening for business in late 2007, CAC has received more than 144,000 submissions from member dealers and collectors, and has awarded green stickers to just over 68,000 of these. Their goal being a uniform grading standard for Premium quality coins. This is the URL you can use if your interestede in reading the article yourself, http://www.coinnews.net/2010/03/16/cac-keeping-strict-coin-grading-standards/ (take a look). It sounds like a wonderful idea to me. Yet things have really gotten bad when a third company has to be created to double check the major coin grading services work. It's time both NGC and PCGS got their act straight and offered up quality. Maybe , all of us that are getting stuck with less than average products should start using their warranty service every time they mess up. I bet we would see an improvement then. That's the goal, everyone out there that receives a poorly graded coin return it for warranty reimbursement. Make them pay for their shoddy work.
