Bulk grading vs. single coin grading?

Do NGC and PCGS grade the bulk coins differently from the single coins sent in for grading?

Do NGC and PCGS grade the bulk coins differently from the single coins sent in for grading?

I know for a fact that you can send into PCGS a large number of the same date and or mint mark coins, and they give you a special label and grade the coins in bulk.

But I am not sure about the NGC rules for bulk submissions. Maybe another member will comment on that here.

Have you ever looked at the special Satin Finish label coins and compare them to the standard label graded coins? I have, and I think the bulk label is not graded to the same standard......

and the reasons why are,

ONE, when you look at the same coin, all day long, I believe you tend to allow a lesser graded coin to make lets say a higher grade!

If you do not believe me, try it! Take out a few hundred cents or what ever you have a large group of and group the coins into piles of grades 69, 68 and 67. Now look at your raw graded coins and compare them with how NGC or PCGS graded!? I believe your mind automatically move up coins into a higher group/grade. Face it we all want to have better or higher graded coins....so after looking at the same coin time and time again, you loose track of the little things that normally take away from a good grade.

TWO, I have sent in and bought coins graded by both grading companies and when you look at the coins, the single standard label looks better. Is this because when you send in a 100 coins to be graded, the company knows it must come through for the customer? Do you grade the coins the same, when you depend on a customer who sends you over 5,000 dollars of business a month? Or the guy who sends in just 5 coins a year?

THREE, are the graders who look at the bulk different than the graders who grade all coins? I do remember PCGS looking for graders for the bulk coins a few years ago? Or did I get this wrong? Please tell me if I am wrong! Do graders look at samples for a standard and when compare your coin to that standard? If so what do you do for a new series or design coin comes out?

I know coins are graded on several different levels, luster,

surface preservation, strike and eye appeal. A point value is given to each side and then totaled up. And you have your grade.

How can you not grade the coin better when you look at the same coin every time?
