Reply to coins as an investment

I will retire on mine

We believe that proof coins, as well as certified older coins are always a sound investment, as they have really gone up in value in the last 10 years with the State Quarter craze, and have never really went down in value. As for (sorry for this, many of you collect these) commemoratives and special coins that are not monetarily usable, I believe that THESE coins will start to lose value as collectors dry up in this area. The market has become saturated with these kinds of 'collectable' coins to satisfy the large demand for the coins that started the whole thing; U.S coins from 1776 to present that are legal tender. The value of these commemoratives go up and down with ease, and will surely drop the bottom out when the next generation loses interest in these coins that have clogged the market. The U.S Mint must be working overtime to pump out coinage, since collectors have grabbed up the State Quarters and Presidential Dollars with a frenzy. I believe that the U.S. Mint will eventually only be minting coins for a small amount of collectors who will still be wanting them, and they will no longer circulate with the wave of the future methods of payment. But for now, I believe that any U.S. coin that you can legally spend will always be a decent investment.
