a 1933-d and a 1914-s Lincoln penny coins

I sent in a 1933-d SEGS MS-65 red coin to be graded by PCGS. I was sure I had a chance at a MS-66. When I am going to buy a coin for my 1909 to 1933 set, I look at as many online auction houses for recent sales and prices the coin sold for. My coin I thought had a small chance at the MS-66 grade, when I looked at the others I see online.

I also sent in a 1914-s Lincoln cent to be graded. While the coin had a wonderful full strike and barely a mark it was very dark. Anacs graded it a MS-62 brown.

So when you send in coins, you roll the dice and hope for the best. The 33 came back a MS-64 and the 14-s came back a MS-64!

I was very pleased with the 14-s coming back 2 grades better, but the 33-d was the one I wanted to bet the farm on....... go figure!
