Don't expect to get rich anytime soon of ever!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Journal: There are a few more things we should remember when thinking about scrap values. The values you see quoted are not going to be the price you get no matter what kind of metal it is. The quoted value is for the highest purity and cleanliness. As I am in the metal cutting business it is something I have to deal with

often. Scrap dealers are notorious for get the lowest possible price, since the lower they buy the more profit is in it for them.

Now as for pennies they are not 100% copper they are an alloy, it cost money to have they refined. If the quoted price is $3.00 a pound you will get about half of that or $1.50. the last time I checked there were 147 pennies in a pound. I am not saying don?t save them, I am just saying know what you are getting in to. They take up a lot of space and I can think of other investments that would be better. You would not believe if I told you how many pennies I go though a week and I sort out every copper cent that I find. I also look for many other things. I make up bags of 5,000 and sell them to hoarder?s for 2 x face and can?t keep them in stock they sell as fast as I can make them. So I say keep right on Hoarding them pennies.
