more of the same? or did we MISS the point?

Hi Namvette68 and fellow collectors,

If you have read any of the articles about the fake coins, with and without the word copy stamped on them and the faked slabs and how to id them, you need to see most of the slab (IF IN A SLABBED HOLDER) in a picture in order to have a chance to ID it.

PCGS posted a note about viewing the back side of the slab, seeing the halo label and the 4 circular spots viewed around the coin. These spots show a connection point in the sealing of the slab, or something like that. The points are clear and only show up when the slab is photographed or turned slightly in the light. When I sold coins on eBay, you could see these spots!

NGC CHANGED the back halo label design, NOTED the front lettering, size and font was wrong when a Chinese counterfeiter copied it with realistic accuracy!

Also if you just check the certification number, you can get a fake slab and a fake coin with a real number!? Did you know that?

LET ME REPEAT THAT ONE, YOU CAN BUY A FAKE WITH A REAL CERTIFICATION NUMBER!!

So again to you sellers or buyers, if you only see a cropped picture, or a picture so far away that you can not see the 4 spots I mentioned above, or the lettering and font, maybe you need to ask some questions!? Or think about spending registry money for a possible BAD coin in a tampered with slab, with a REAL NUMBER!

THEY ARE OUT THERE!

I have gotten many reply's from many friends on this site.

I have read about the many fake slabs, how the United States Customs and other coin collecting clubs, dealers, NGC and PCGS are working together to stop the sale of these slabbed coins.

Why are some sellers on eBay so against showing a full picture? Everyone of the handful of reply's said, and I quote, "I'm to cheap" to put up more than one picture!? The cost is only 0.15 cents a picture!

The only source I noted in the articles for the fake slabs was EBAY!

So you decide, buy from a cropped cut and pasted picture or one that is not afraid to show the slab completely!
