I am always reading how those shows on the Home Shopping channels are a rip-off and that they are no good for the hobby. I hate to say it, but if it wasn?t for that channel, I probably wouldn?t be hooked on the hobby today.

I am always reading how those shows on the Home Shopping channels are a rip-off and that they are no good for the hobby. I hate to say it, but if it wasn?t for that channel, I probably wouldn?t be hooked on the hobby today. I purchased a tube of 10 Morgans for somewhere around $180 (they were supposed to be uncirculated) that contained common date coins, some cleaned, some not so uncirculated. So I paid about $18 a coin, not a tremendous folly, but knowing what I do now, I could do much better. When I received to coins, and held them in my hands (not on the edges, finger prints and all) all I could think about was the history of the coin, where it had been, who touched it, and how beautiful the detail. Now we all make mistakes and that causes most of us to better ourselves, as I did from that moment on. I was hooked and started to learn as much as I could about collecting and try to decide what it was I wanted to collect. I stared on Morgans but at the same time, I was researching my family tree. Then it hit me! COLLECT A SET FOR EVERY YEAR OF YOUR ANCESTORS BIRTH. This gives me a pallet of many different types of coins, and many different denominations. I hope that in the future, my children will become as interested in coins and history as I have, so I can pass my collection on to my future generations.
