Here we go again.....

Well, I did it today. I've been tossing around the idea of starting a new set. Today I did. Going with the Jefferson nickel proofs. I will try to put together a nice set.

I wanted to collect a set I liked, and most importantly, could do over time. Won't be in a huge hurry to do this one. Going to take my time and have some fun!!!! Should be a bit less expensive to gather as well.

I started it with the 2009 S, NGC PF-70, which I won on E-Bay about 15 minutes ago!!! Let the fun begin!!!!!

12-3-09 My first three nicks arrived today!!! Excellent!!! I added an 09 and an 08 in NGC PF-70 as well as the 1994 SP-70, also NGC. All are in new style Edge-View holders-my favorite!!!Wow-really neat!! I really love the new design on the 08 and 09. Never have seen one of these in circulation out here, so really nifty to see them up close!! Love it!!! The SP-70 is different-the matte finish is odd for a proof. Interesting for sure!!! Nice to actually add a few coins to the set. My first three!!! This set will take a while, but I am looking forward to progress. I will scan and add scans to my set tomorrow. Ready for bed tonight already!!!!

12-5-09 I was able to add the 2002 nick today. Really looks nice!!! I will send it in to NGC for re-holdering into an Edge-View holder. I will add scans after it returns. Won it on E-Bay at a good price. I now have a whopping four nicks in the set!!!! This will be a slow but fun process. I must say I do really like the new front design much better than this one!!!!

12-7-09 The 1999 and 2007 nicks arrived today. Very nice examples!!! The 1999 will need to go in for re-holdering. The 2007 is already scanned and in my set!!! I did add the 99 to my set-just no scans 'till it comes back. Big news is I won a 1987 NGC PF-70 last night!!! I sure hope it gets here before Thursday's deadline!!!!!!

12-10-09 My 87 NGC PF-70 arrived today!!! Wow-what a nice coin!! Excellent eye appeal and perfection for sure!!!! In a Edge-View holder, just as I like them!!!! Added and scanned into my set. That is it for judging this year!!! Hope to be in a better position next year!!!!!

12-15-09 Nicks and more nicks today!!!! My 1990, 1996, and 2005 ocean view and bison nicks arrived today! All perfect 70's, and the 90 and two 05's were in new edge-view holders!!! (Thanks Giselle and CRC-1)!!!!!! Chuck supplied the 96, awesome coin!!! I will send it in for re-holdering here after the Holidays. Boy, these nicks are fun!!! Nice coins, not real spendy so far, and a blast to mess around with!!!!! I will scan the three in new holders in later today.

12-17-09 The 84 arrived this morning. It is a perfect example. No defects at all. The seller told me it was awesome, and it is!!! (Thanks, Mark)!!!!! This is my oldest coin in this set so far-long way to go yet!!! It came in a Edge-View holder, so I added it to my set and did the scans as well. This is fun!!! I love adding coins to my set. Always the highlight of my day!!!!

12-17-09 Two new additions today! The 92 and 03 nicks arrived. They are both very nice! Both in new holders, so that is great!!! I got them both added and scanned into my set. Fun adding them in! Not sure what I am going to do when the commons are all procured.......

12-19-09 It rained nickels today. The 91, 93, 94, 95, and 98 Jeffs arrived! They are all nice and bright!!!! I added them to my set. Love watching this thing grow!!!!! The 91 came in a new Edge-View holder. The other four will go in for same. Fun, Fun!!!!!

12-22-09 I was able to add 4 nicks to the set this morning!!! The 97, 00, and the two 04 coins arrived yesterday. All very nice! All in NGC Edge-View holders, so I scanned them in as well!!! Still getting a bit of tome look on some scans, but slowly working it out. One of these days I will get it down pat.

Additional coins are going to get tough now as there are only a couple more commons to go-then things get tough in the higher grades. I am in no hurry so will take my time and add the highest grades I can.

12-27-09 Well, we survived the Death Storm 6000. Got over 20" of snow since Wednesday the 23rd. Coupled with the high winds, has made for an interesting Christmas!!! Can't wait to start digging out tomorrow!!! !!! I was able to get a hold of a really nice NGC PF-70 1985 Jefferson nick yesterday. Should arrive around the 1st, so a nice way to start the year!!!! I will add it to my set when it arrives. Pop 5 coin in 70 as of today, although these are being graded and pop has been rising on the 80's nicks as of late. Still kind of hard to find in 70.

1-4-10 Well, my first entry of the new year!!! The 85, 01, and 06 nicks arrived today. They are great!!!! Worth waiting for!!! I see the pop on the 85 went up to seven, but still a kind of rare one in 70. The 01 and 06 are not rare at all!!!! I added the 85 to my set. Will need to go in to NGC for re-holdering. The other two I will add to my set tonight-have to scan them first. They are already in new Edge-View holders. Nice to start the new year with new additions!!!!! Happy New Year to all!!!!!

1-6-10 My 83 arrived in fine shape today. First purchase of the year-done on 1-1-10!!!! Good one to start off the new year!!

It is very nice. I did add to my set, needs to be re-holdered. I have about 8 or 9 now to be re-holdered-will send off next week. Once they return, I can get them scanned in. Pickings have been slim the last few days. Nothing to bid on-the commons are pretty much all in my set already, and needed coins are pretty expensive in high grades!!! Oh well, not in a huge hurry to finish-will keep searchin'!!!!!!

1-11-10 Packed up the nine nicks to be re-holdered and fired them off to NGC this morning. Will see how long it takes to get them back!!! Having them put into the scratch-proof Edge-View holder. I really like this new holder!!!! I also want all the holders in the set to match, so.... When they return I will do the scans and get them added to my registry.

1-20-10 I see my nine Jeffs are now scheduled for grading at NGC. Should be on the way back to me in new holders soon! Then I can get them scanned in and done!!! Cool!!!

Pickings have been slim as of late. No new additions. There are some needed nicks out there, but prices seem high to me. I will keep searching for bargains!!!!!

1-23-10 My 9 Jeffs are on the way home!!! Got an e-mail from NGC yesterday that said my 9 nicks were shipped out and on the way back!!!!! Yeah!!! All stayed at PF-70, and are now in the new scratch-proof Edge-View holders. They will be here next week and I will get them scanned into my set!!!! Can't wait!!!!!

1-24-10 Big news today is I bought what I am told is the first 1982-S Jeff nick to be graded PF-70 by NGC. Made the deal yesterday. Excellent!!!!! I know that sooner or later there will be others, but for now, I have the only one!!!! I can't wait for it to show up!!!!! The seller sent pics, it is awesome!!! I will wait until I have it in hand before I add it to my set. Already in a new Edge-View holder, so I will share scans right away!!!!! Hope it arrives quickly!!!!! Certification number even ends -001!!!! How cool is that?
