Describing coins takes time!

I'm trying to document my collection better.

A few entries ago I wrote that I'd be spending some time improving the descriptions of my registered coins. I've spent two evenings doing that so far, and have done only 13 of my middle date large cents. Despite the fact that I already had descriptions for most of them, it has been taking a long time to standardize the format and content, update/rewrite my descriptions (short though they be), and copy catalog descriptions into the registry.

At the recent Philadelphia show I spoke with Bob Grellman about his recent work cataloging the big copper collections recently sold by the Goldbergs. I was surprised to hear how long he said it takes (typically several months for several hundred coins), even considering that he has a "day job" also. Now I really believe it.

On a different topic - Excitement is mounting for a couple days off work. The next Baltimore coin show starts later today, and I need to get myself ready. I'm hoping to sell my duplicate 1841 cent, and maybe buy something despite the numismatic deficit I'm running.

Here's a nice half dime to enjoy. Happy collecting to all.
