Those were the days
Just think of the fun to open a sealed bag of old coins.....
Hi everyone,
just sent a note to Bully about his fun(or lack of) with half dollars and thought I would share a memory of mine.
As a child I would join my father in the basement and open an old bag of coins he just returned from the bank with. He would be so proud to tell me how his buddy would get the coin company to bring him an old bag of sealed coins. Sometimes it would be pennies and other times half dollars! We would spend hours going through the coins, with our coin books open and our little eye pieces in our hands. Our hands would be so dirty from handling the coins. Dinner time would be very quick and then back at the table with all the coins to look at!
We found a few nice coins, I think even a 1913-s quarter which I still have.
Now when I order a box of half dollars to go through, I wait till the holidays and hope the box I get is an older one, rolled up and stuck on a shelf a bunch of years ago!
Now those were the days.....
